Bentley looked like a gorgeous kitty. Sorry to hear about his passing. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. And several dogs, because a man with a cat is a woman. Kurt Schlichter

So sorry to hear about Bentley’s passing. I don’t know what I’d do without my furry friends. Tabitha is asleep by my feet and Scout is snoring away a few feet from the bed as I type this. They truly do take a piece of you when they go.

So sorry for your loss. You gave Bentley a good home and a better life than most animals will ever have. When the time comes you will find another animal to spoil. "We've done four already, but now we're steady..."

Very sorry for your loss Ensigmatic. It's nice the community here is so understanding. All I have left of my father is his dog. He means quite a bit to me so I have a lot of empathy for you.

So very sorry to read about Bentley!! Condolences on your loss! I know about the pain from such a loss. Been down that road a couple times. Wow. To hear that he coded while being processed must have been tough. Sorry for your loss. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Yeah, that's been one of the worst parts--thinking of how that must've been for him. It's heartbreaking ![]() I don't dwell on it, because then I start feeling guilty for doing that to him. I have to remind myself "What else could we have done?", but it doesn't help much. *sigh*... Earlier this morning I got up out of my chair in the computer room and, as I turned, thought I caught his tail out of the corner of my eye. Without thinking I turned to look and... I've heard of this kind of thing happening with others who'd lost loved ones. Never happened to me before. "America is at that awkward stage. No, don't feel guilty about trying to help your pet; it's not like you were ignorant or should have known better. It was his time to go; I would prefer that for my pets rather than prolong their lives beyond a reasonable quality of life just for my need of their companionship. I'm probably in the minority and maybe I'm morbid but from time to time, I think about the time when my pets and I have to part. They're sisters and I saw how I reacted to their mother dying because we were staying at the house where their mother and dad were at the time. They were whining a little but I saw one of them bobbing her head up and down uncontrollably like she was sobbing but no tears were coming out. In the days following, when we let them out in the yard, they would make a special line to where their mother was buried and lingered there for a bit. Your pet is grateful you let him go his way; he gave you a lifetime of companionship that you two shared. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly.
