College SAT "adversity score" Login/Join

Nice, so a kid busts his/her ass in school then the SAT adds an additional section, which you cant contest or appeal, that can keep you out of school. And you dont even really know what data they are using against you. I am so glad my daughter is done with this and on to college. I know her "adversity score" would have sucked!

SAT just dug their own grave. Not much point in having a non-standardized standardized test, now is there?

That's the most egregious aspect of this deal, they don't even let the student know what's been added to their score/application.

We bought the idea of affirmative action long ago. This is the logical progression to a false principle. We either reject the principle or suffer these continual and destructive consequences

Wonder if this be some “blowback” from the celebrity payoff admissions scandal that’s been in the recent news.

With all these underqualified people coming in, these "elite" schools will start to lose their prestige. When Yale and Harvard are full of mediocre kids who cant cut it, and they have to dumb down their curriculum to accommodate, they will become just another school.

Bring on the online universities.

I'm so glad I'm done with school and all this bullshit! Roll Eyes

Colleges are in real trouble already and this isn't going to help things as they fill up with students that can't cut it and shouldn't even be there.

Very true. Beyond that, when everyone has a "free" college degree courtesy of the progressives, that will also mean nothing. A BA/BS will be the equivalent of a HS diploma.

A lot of them already are, compared to what I had to learn in high school (Class of 1955).

So, does it go something like this?

Single parent household - 10 points
Non-white - 20 points
Adjusted gross income of parent(s)/guardian below $50K - 15 points
Regular user of public transportation - 10 points
Free breakfast and lunch at school - 15 points

How will Advanced Placement students ever compete with this type of scheme?

Tweaking the SAT score by some “adversity factor” was a certainty waiting to happen in this Politically Correct age. Exactly when was the only uncertainty.
