Came through my neighborhood on a three wheel bicycle with a freezer box on the front full of treats and dry ice. I remember pushups, drumsticks, popsicles and fudgesicles.

Just another day in paradise.

Yep pushups. I guess the OP is a lot younger than I am. Ours were .10 cents or less.

We lived too far out in the country for an ice cream man but one of the neighbors had a churn and we'd be excited enough when that came out.

And I've seen him in so many places,
I saw him the night I was born,
In a Bourbon Street bar I received my first scar
From an old man so tattered and torn

I don't remember having a favorite as a kid, though those memories may just be over written. In the '90s my friend had a truck and I'd run it now and again... then my favorite was the Chipwich and the Choco-taco. Big Grin

I don't know about now days, but at the time the mark up was big. You could make a lot of money. He found a happy medium where he made enough just going out four hours a day. Which is a good thing. Because after a while, the kids and listening to that damn music, you wanted to shoot yourself. Any of the guys who'd been in the business a long time all seemed at least a little off. And it was easy to see why.

"Mine was a Toasted Almond from the Good Humor man"

exactly the same here. small white truck that drove slow thru the neighborhood w some jingle like sound. I was especially lucky because he had to drive into a dead end and turn around. So I usually heard him entering, and then waited for him to come back on his return run.

orange Creamsicles were a close second

Not only the Piraqua cart but also the Coquito cart. Douglas Projects, Manhattan.
