Saw that on the news last night. Hope your home is safe, looks like they really jumped on it, lots of homes in the area. They mentioned evacuation orders being lifted by Sunday evening. ________________________________ "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.

Thanks, fellas. So far so good (said the man plummeting from a 20 story building). But seriously, the fire seems to be a bit smaller this morning; however evacuation orders are still in effect. Nevertheless, I do feel better about things today. I expect i may even go back home tonight. We'll see. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Parleys Canyon Fire status: Blaze is 0% contained but smaller than first estimated, at 619 acres https://www.msn.com/en-us/weat...619-acres/ar-AANltbz A large fire that began Saturday afternoon off Interstate 80 in Parleys Canyon remained completely uncontained as of 9:15 a.m. Sunday morning. Sierra Hellstrom, a Summit County fire official, said Sunday morning that the blaze remained at 0% containment, and that the number was not expected to change until at least the end of the day. Hellstrom called the fire “an emerging situation” as more crews were expected on the grounds Sunday in an effort to map the fire and get a better idea of what is happening. Summit Park, Pinebrook and upper Mill Creek Canyon areas all remained under evacuation orders, as those are under immediate threat. Hellstrom said Summit County fire officials are requesting that people remain out of Lambs Canyon. One piece of positive news came later Sunday morning from Summit County. Officials tweeted that aerial reconnaissance teams surveying the fire have it mapped at 619 acres, down from an original estimate of 1,500. The county also reported “spot fires” near the ridge above Summit Park, but no homes there are currently threatened. The Utah Department of Natural Resources announced Saturday evening that Jordanelle State Park would be closed Sunday so that fire crews could utilize the reservoir in an effort to contain the blaze. The fire began around 2 p.m. Saturday and was started by a faulty catalytic converter traveling up the canyon, according to Utah Fire Info. Smoke from the blaze could be seen from Salt Lake City as the fire spread at “an extreme rate.” I-80 was closed for a time, though it is now open in both directions, according to Utah Fire Info. An outage temporarily caused a loss of power to approximately 2,461 Rocky Mountain Power customers due to fire and smoke, according to a tweet from the company, but power was restored. https://www.sltrib.com/news/20...8/14/heres-list-all/ Summit Park, Pine Brook and upper Mill Creek Canyon remain under evacuation orders Sunday morning, as the Parleys Canyon Fire continues to burn. The evacuation order for Lambs Canyon has been lifted, but Summit County fire official Sierra Hellstrom said that officials are requesting that people stay out of that area. Hellstrom called the fire “an emerging situation” as more crews were expected on the ground Sunday. A malfunctioning catalytic converter sparked the fire around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The fire quickly spread, forcing the evacuation of Summit Park, Pine Brook, Mill Creek and Lambs Canyon around 4:30 p.m. The initial evacuation orders affected up to 8,000 people, said Brian Trick with the Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands According to a 7:20 p.m. tweet from Summit County, evacuated residents should expect to be out of their homes for 24 to 48 hours. An evacuation center hosted by the American Red Cross was set up for evacuees at Park City High School, located at 1750 Kearns Blvd. in Park City. Tina Spencer, who is a shelter manager for the Red Cross and helped establish the evacuation center on Saturday, wanted to make sure residents know that they are “welcome to have their pets” with them.

Oh man, we'll be thinking of you. Hope things go ok. Keeping you in our thoughts. Someone posted about the smoke from fires there reachign Missouri. We have a similar situation here where smoke form wild fires in Canada 1200 miles aways is giving us haze. Once in a while out on the big Lake (Ontario) we've smelled smoke from those fires. ----------------------- You can't fall off the floor.

The morning situation report (NIFC Sitrep), which is really information at the end of day prior, shows the Parleys Canyon burn at 2,000 acres, with a Type 2 incident management team. 63 personnel, 4 engines, 1 helicopter, and a cost to date of 2 million. Estimated containment September 1st. Remember that containment doesn't mean control; just that a line is around the fire, that can consist of a hand-tool scratch to mineral earth, up to a dozer or retardant line. It can be actively burning on the interior or even adjacent to the line. The Sitrep incident description is
The IMT Type 2 team is one step removed from the largest and most advanced incident management team (a Type 1); if the incident continues to grow rapidly and draws in more resources, then it's possible it could go to a type 1. Presently the national preparedness level is 5, which means all resources are committed, so aside from local, any additional equipment, personnel, aircraft, etc, needs to be drawn from other incidents that are reaching containment. https://www.nifc.gov/nicc/sitreprt.pdf The incident hasn't reached inciweb, yet. https://inciweb.nwcg.gov
