It was a weird feeling having to leave my home. The wife and the girls are in France at the moment so it was just me packing up what I can and get out. I have most of my guns and any valuables I can think of, but you can't take everything. Frown

I noticed the smoke driving home around 1pm. Said to myself, hmmm, I don't like the look of that.

This is from my back deck.

Then it got scary and the evacuation orders started:

Finally rolled out a little while ago and am in a hotel in downtown Park City. Hope I have a home to go back to in the next day or two.

View from my hotel room:

On another note, can you believe these damned gas prices?

Sorry to vent to you fellas. Just feeling a little isolated with the family away and me by my lonesome.

ouch. Stay safe my friend. I'm not sure what else to say, but I can't even imagine how it feels right now to be away from one's home under such circumstances.

That really sucks. I had to evacuate a while back but luckily they stopped it from spreading and contained it before anything was damaged. Hopefully your home will be unscathed. Good thing your family is someplace safe in the meantime and you just have to fend for yourself.

Best wishes to you. Stay safe.

You don’t seem completely alone. Teddy on the bed? Smile

Gas around here was $4.70 for premium? Hurting over here as well.

We evacuated last year for a week. Certainly stressful.

I just heard about this tonight. We had to evacuate from our Woodland Hills home many years ago. The fire was just over the ridge and headed our way. We lucked out and didn't lose our house but it caused us to sell and move. Here's hoping your home is not in jeopardy brother.

Haha, good catch. My wife's, a Duffy Bear. I gave it to her when she first moved to the US on a Visa working at Disney World. It was the only way we could be close together (relatively).

The bear on the bed was a half-hearted joke to my wife telling her we both got out.

Too bad all we can let you do is vent. I hope the fires get abated and your home safe.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." It's after 2:30am and I can't sleep.

One almost has to laugh though. With the girls away for a bit, I've been catching up on a lot of projects around the place. The big one, the one I've been wanting to do for years, was to re-paint my deck. I finally got to it last week and finished one section. The second coat went on yesterday (Friday).

It was a decent amount of work though because the old paint was so bad it had to be stripped off.

The Wagner PaintEATER was awesome.

It was satisfying work. Except it's still curing so I haven't even had a chance to enjoy it yet. Frown

At least the hotel room is nice. And free! Smile

All the best. Up early here too the dog wanted company, early morning whine.

I painted our front porch two weeks ago also, been meaning to do it for a while, near the same color.

Hopefully the wind forecast is favorable, seems like something to look at to see what the fire ‘may’ do.

Watched the weather last night and they were talking about the smoke from those fires are reaching to mid Missouri.

Why is you gas so high? Our regular right now is around $2.80 a gallon.

Stay safe.

Stay safe and I hope your home and property isn't damaged.
Beautiful country out there and I miss riding Parley's and Big Cottonwood Canyon.

It's good that you were keeping an eye out and had a chance to prepare, and glad you got out safely.

Here's hoping the fire misses you and your neighbors.

Good to see evidence (Teddy pic) that you've kept your sense of humor. Positive attitude will help, no matter what lies ahead.
