I think that you’d be better off keeping iOS 26.2 and reducing the Liquid Glass effects as suggested by V-Tail. My method:
Settings => Accessibility => Display and Text Size
Click on the Reduce Transparency button.

Settings => Accessibility => Display and Text Size
Click on the Reduce Transparency button.
I also use:
Settings => Accessibility => Motion => Reduce Motion
This stops the "liquid" effect around the icons.

Yes, all the security patching is BS, never load it on your computer or anything electronic

What makes you think so? It appears to be a wise update to me. iOS updates cost Apple money; I know of no reason for Apple to release unrequired updates.

nhtagmemberI say its bullshit because one of the earlier posts said those two patches were previously installed with iOS 18
and if it was all about security, why all the other crap like the liquid glass bullshit
are they deliberately trying to drive people away from the Apple platform and onto their competition?
Android doesn't see to suffer from the same stupidity

Me: But those security patches weren’t in iOS 26.0 and 26.1. So yes, iOS 26.2 was an urgent update to correct that blunder.

Me: Liquid Glass came in iOS 26.0. iOS 26.2 was primarily “all about security”. “liquid glass bullshit”? Some folks like it, some don’t.

HRKAndroid has it's issues, all OS have issues of some sort.
The patch is in 18 AND 26 because some people have not upgraded to 26 and may never, and they needed to address the security issue for both OS, imagine it wasn't related to 26, but a hole someone found that needed to be shut in some other part of the system.

A-do you have 18.7.3? Because Apple documentation clearly states that has the security patches. If you have 18.7.3, what are you complaining about?
B-android doesn’t suffer from security updates either?!?!!! Updates are up to each hardware vendor to push out. If yours doesn’t, STBY.
Either way, your path is clear: buy an Android phone and move on with your life.

gpbst3Why does Apple always list the least important features first. This update will add 27 new emojis, apple sleep will now sync to your connected pillow, allows for a smoother calculator equation experience and in the fine print updates major security flaws.

0-0A patch is a patch, IMO, and anything else is not a patch if it includes another stuff.
If you make any other changes besides what needs fixing it’s delusional to think you are not introducing changes that will require further patching, fixing or neutering.
I have the latest updates and our iphones are now not easy to reach. For now, i think the phone company is gaslighting us to generate calls.
Turning Airplane mode on and off will allow the next call to get through, not the following ones. A PITA.
We didn’t have this issue prior to 26

I still have iOS 17.5.1 on my phone...
Is that bad?
I couldn't find an option for 18.7.3?
and probably don't want iOS 26.2 now.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

You have to enable Beta releases.
Only certain phones have an ‘officisl’ 18.7.3 update available.
My 14 Pro did not; my choice was 26.x or nothing. I had to allow Beta releases, then -boom- 18.7.3 and no new problems.

nhracecraftAs of 20th DEC 2025, for iPhones eligible for iOS 26, Apple has pulled iOS 18.7.3 in both beta and non-beta channels. Speculation from multiple sources is that the availability of iOS 18.7.3 through Beta release was an oversight/loophole by Apple, that has since been closed.

Apple is no longer allowing the iOS 18 public beta to be used to skirt the iOS 18 to iOS 26 transition. Opting in to the iOS 18 beta no longer triggers the iOS 18.7.3 update.

robbiedogI upgraded to the 26.2 last week. Yeah, the "glass" display is a bit weird, but I'm getting used to it. Otherwise I really don't notice any difference with this iOS. I was tentative about doing this, and in hindsight think I was being pretty silly about it.

Pipe SmokerI’m starting to like Liquid Glass. iOS 26.0, but I think 26.1 and/or 26.2 refined it a bit.
An odd thing though. When browsing SIGforum I sometimes (not always) see an artifact: a horizontal line. Sometimes it stays near the bottom of the screen, but sometimes it’s up near the center. And if I stop scrolling it disappears after a few seconds. It’s more prominent in landscape orientation.
It’s not bothersome, but I wonder about its purpose.

nhtagmemberits another 'undocumented feature' for which you can be sure Apple will issue another important security update which will have even more 'undocumented features' included
