A man pulled a gun on a group of about 30 protesters outside the home of Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacey early Monday morning, further heightening a tense primary over the county’s top prosecutor job.

Video from the scene shows a man standing in what is believed to be Lacey’s doorway in Granada Hills pointing a gun and shouting, “I will shoot you. Get off of my porch.”

Officers responded to the home in the 17900 block of Mayerling Street about 5:40 a.m. after someone called to report protesters outside, said Officer Lizeth Lomeli with the Los Angeles Police Department. Police officials could not immediately comment on whether any firearm had been brandished or confirm if the man seen in the video is Lacey’s husband.

Dozens of protesters arrived before dawn outside Lacey’s home, according to Melina Abdullah, a Black Lives Matter organizer and Cal State L.A. professor who said she was one of three people the gun was pointed at.

The group was at Lacey’s home to protest her refusal to meet with black activists and organizers in South L.A., Abdullah said. During a contentious October meeting of the Stonewall Democratic Club to discuss her handling of the Ed Buck case, Lacey promised to arrange a meeting but never delivered.

“So we decided to have the meeting in front of her house,” Abdullah said.

The group arranged chairs and prayed on the sidewalk but did not initially approach Lacey’s property — until Abdullah and two others went to the front door. Then, they said, they heard a gun cock.

“I thought I was being paranoid, and I said. ‘That didn’t sound good,’” Abdullah said. “And then her husband opened the door and pointed a gun and said. ‘Get off my porch.’”

Some protesters identified Lacey’s husband as the man who was holding the gun, but The Times has not independently confirmed that.

Put me on a jury.

A group of folks congregate at the edge of a person's property, then a three people come on the property and head for the door? Yeah, the "Get Off My Lawn!, Kowalski Defense" works for me.

A mob advancing on you, even with no visible weapons, most certainly justifies "going to guns." Remember Reginald Denny? That mob was "unarmed" too.

My first thought too.

A mob known for a propensity towards physical violence has gathered at the edge of my property and then comes to the door after being informed they are not welcomed (there's more to the story, the "peaceful" activist are upset the woman they want to meet with keeps backing the police and enforcing the laws) should be met with a defensive action.

This will be interesting to watch if he's charged. As a resident of California I'm not aware of any law that allows him to brandish a firearm when there is no perceived threat. Trespassing on one's lawn doesn't cut it here. Anyone else and this guy would be in cuffs....

Here is the thing: these assholes love videoing everything. It is amazing that there isn't any immediately released or live streamed video that showed what happened. Of course more than likely there is video but of them behaving like an angry mob threatening the home owners.

Same exact crap happened during the Ferguson riots; same allegations toward a pizzeria owner (they were protesting there due to the pizzeria feeding cops deployed in Ferguson): "he pointed pistol at us, threaten us, etc". The ONLY photo they ever produced was one showing after the owner locked the doors and turned off the lights (mob still beating on door and screaming threats) he bent under bar and retrieved a revolver putting it in his pants. That was it, nothing else happened.....store owner had surveillance video backing his story which the media knew of but did not present in any of their fucking fake stories of poor protestors being threatened.

Really? The wife is the county DA. Who brings charges in that county? They are almost certainly Dimocrats. He’s black. Any of those three things might be enough to get him off the hook. Put the three together and anyone asking why he hasn’t been arrested is far more likely to see the ugly side of the legal system than he is.

Nope not everyone. However, most here are realistic enough to realize that the prevailing attitude towards firearms does not match ours. In my somewhat rural county, the DA is in an Army Reservist and a good guy. Still, I would not want to put myself in a position where he had to make a charging decision about me without doing everything I could to avoid the situation. In a Leftarded hellhole like LA, I’d assume the book was going to be thrown at me and try even harder to avoid the situation. I’d be shocked if a white male conservative who wasn’t married to the DA wasn’t arrested, charged with brandishing, and told that he should have stayed inside and called 911. Come to think of it, that is likely what I would have done. Should it be that way? Hell no. Does it makes sense to create legal drama for yourself if you don’t have to? Nope.

LA is very anti-gun so the money says he's going to be charged.

The safest place to be when an unruly crowd shows up before dawn is to stay inside, call the cops and let them handle it.

The video might have been edited or other things happened that aren't shown but if any Ordinary Joe did that they'd be arrested and charged for brandishing, among other things.

I wonder if he has a CCW and if so, will the permit get revoked?
