Being from the Bay Area, I too remember the original burners on baker beach in SF. Then it moved to the desert. Had a few chances to go when it was still edgy and kinda niche. Now celebs and “influencers” show up in million dollar motor homes. And pray you don’t get a monsoon or windstorm that week

Don’t get me wrong I’d like to go for a day and walk around and people watch.not maybe if I was working on a serious phd paper in sociology of counterculture or similar.

But going for a week and being a nudist and getting that fine dirt in every possible crevice and getting stoned on all kinds of dope both natural and synthetic does not sound like fun.

Apparently, a lot of people disagree with you.

I'm not sure we should make more of it than it is, "Demonic influence?" Some people like to party harder than others seems like a more rational explanation for the phenomenon to me. Not that I have any interest in attending, but I have known people in my life who would, I believe, be delighted with doing so (if they haven't already)!

When I was younger, I very much missed having gone to Woodstock. A couple of Gens later, the partying has gotten significantly more intense, but I'm sure that "events" like it have been going on since at least the Neanderthals.

I imagine Neanderthals made a modern day burning event look like a toddlers birthday party.

I was passing through Reno and Fernley last week as BM trekkies were getting gas. It’s a common practice to use blue painters tape to seal all possible seals, cracks, and windows because the playa dust gets inside the RV and is near impossible to clean.

Then you have someone stuck in the mud and attempts to rodeo out of the wheel ruts.

The RV owner was smart to include an AirTag.
