Prayers for strength and recovery for you. And yes, yes, yes, get any symptoms checked early. I had testicular cancer in ‘04. Noticed something odd on a Monday, had surgery three days later and then a few rounds of chemo. That’s been 15 years ago last month.

With the wife’s breast cancer chemo, we used peppermint candy or ginger to help with nausea. She’s not a super fan of either, but was better than being sick. Also, the infusion nurse suggested Claritin. It tends to help, no one knows why.

Warm, fuzzy socks. Fireplace. The fuzziest, warmest blanket you can find. A good book, and comfy chair. Hot herbal tea. No one will call you lazy, I promise.

Really hope all goes well with treatment. And you become cancer free for good. That is a lot to go through and I will be praying for your recovery and continued health.
Thank you for the reminder as well. I had to put off my follow up colonoscopy due to hysterectomy. It’s high time I get in and checked after my out of the blue microperforation last fall.

Hoping for the best for you and a speedy recovery.

I would also add that one needs to be their own advocate when it comes to health care. In 2013 I felt really crummy and had pretty severe abdominal cramps. I went to my regular doc who referred me to my GI doc. By the time I got to see him I was feeling worse and had lost 20 LBs due to not eating much. He told me he could find nothing wrong and gave me some probiotcs. I told him I have severe pain at intervals and that I could fucking see my small intestines pushing up against my belly and that I felt I probably had a partial block of my small intestine. He did't think so but I insisted to have a CT Scan which he finally agreed but told me it would be more expensive to get one stat. I said fine and two weeks later I had CT Scan at 8:30 AM on a Saturday. I got a phone call at around 10:30 AM from a partner of his asking how I felt and I told him crummy like usual. He told me I had a blocked small intestine and should come to the hospital ASAP. I told him I had no one to drive me and could it wait until Monday as I have been dealing with this for months already. He agreed but told me to go to ER if I started vomiting or bleeding and stay on a liquid diet. We went to hospital on Monday for a two week stay and I had surgery Wednesday and they removed 18 inches of my small intestine and removed carcinoid tumors and all the lymph nodes near them of which one had cancer. So far carcinoid cancer, which is very slow growing, has not returned but I get yearly CT scans. So bottom line is if you feel a doctor/doctors are not working in your best interest don't necessarily settle for their advice, research your issue, ask questions, and voice your concerns.

My very best to you. I have some small idea of what you are going through, I finished what I hope was my last series of radiation treatments last Friday and I know how it messes everything up, memory, energy, the fatigue, it is tough. So stay strong my invisible friend, just keep standing up after you go down.

Best of luck to you in your long upcoming battle. Did you happen to wake up with an ostomy bag or did they hook you back up? When my colon ruptured in 2 spots I was already in so much pain from my IBD I did not know it had ruptured.

I believe he said he had an ostomy. Pretty standard for perforated colon.
