Hang in there, buddy!

BTDT. In my case it was prostate cancer, with 10 of 12 samples showing cancer. It took 39 radiation treatments to get rid of it. And some 8 years later no symptoms problems. Cancer can be defeated!

Prayers that your battle will go as well as mine did.

My grandon and our family are in the battle with you. Hills and valleys, each day is one or the other. I hope you find yourself on top of the hills longer than in valleys and that the distance between gets shorter and shorter.

James, Your story rings very close to home. My sister went through the same thing. Luckily she was visiting me when her tumor ruptured like yours. Ambulance took her to the ER and did not see her again for 6 hours until came out of surgery. That was 6 years ago and is cancer free. Was 45 and colon cancer (or any cancer) does not run in our family. Her first symptom was the ruptured tumor.

Her chemo did the same with the cold sensitivity, nausea luckily was not a big deal for her. One side effect they did not mention, or we missed, was hearing loss. She needs a hearing aid, but refuses to get one. I am on her but to make it happen. So please keep that in the back of your mind. it's one of those things that sneak up on you before you realize it.

Hang in there, and will say some prayers for your speedy and full recovery and remission.

Damn James. Sorry to hear all this. Keep the faith man!

I guess I've been lucky. Yes I have the Big C, but it is a rare form of leukemia that is well controlled with daily oral chemo. That said when they first started treatment almost 5 years ago, it worked so well that my system was flooded with potentially lethal levels of potassium and my organs started shutting down. Spent 8.5 days in the hospital, most in the ICU. Never knew they did dialysis through your cartoid artery until it was done to me. I still have a discolored depression where that port was inserted. Frown And there have been nasty chemo side effects like pleural effusion in the years since. (As an aside, being on O2 at the time is how I ended up corresponding with JAllen.) But unlike if I had been diagnosed 15-20 years ago when I would have been given 2.5 years, with these newer treatments I'm still stealing oxygen. Big Grin

Wow James, sorry you are having to deal with this. We'll say some extra prayers for you. I live up by Greeley, don't know if you have family or friends helping you out. Holler if you get stuck or need something. I'm gone frequently with work, but would be happy to swing down that way if you need help and I'm in town. Get Better!!

Thanks for that. I know there are other side effects that I wasn't aware of and I've never heard of that one. I'll ask my oncologist about it next time I see him. He's really good, but I'm sure there are things that are extremely rare that they don't tell everyone.

I just turned 50, and I had symptoms for enough time that I should have known. I thought it was food poisoning or maybe just diverticulitis or something, it wasn't... as I found out.

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts and prayers, and my sympathies and prayers go to others fighting the same fight, especially those who are fighting with their children!!!
