Figure skating is athletic, graceful and beautiful.
For about 10 minutes.
And how exactly is it a sport?

My definition, anything that's decided on style points is not a sport.

I'm OK with the short programs, and admire the athleticism when the woman is thrown across the ice and lands perfectly; and similar demonstrations of making appear easy and graceful what should be impossible. Yes, there's too much; also too much hockey, curling, etc. That's what your DVR is for.

LOL - I was watching last night and yelling at the TV, "Would SOMEONE please take that fucking flag from him!?!....Ahhwh geeze...don't step on it!"

I'll give the dude a pass though. He's a dopey stoner that somehow got his favorite activity into the Olympics and crushed it. He was proud as hell to wave that flag around and likely wasn't paying attention in civics during "flag code" class.

Im sure he was jacked that on how he won etc...

It looked like there was an official flag hander outer dude that stuffed the flag into his hand. It did not look like he even knew what was put into his hand at first.

Figure skating has always been a key part of the Olympics. I watch it , and along with the ski jumps, are my 2 favorites. But I am a long term fan of figure skating , back to Sarejevo.

And also following Nationals sans Olympics.

First Olympic figure skating was not inside an arena.

From Wiki:
"Figure skating was first contested in the Olympic Games at the 1908 Summer Olympics. Since 1924, the sport has been a part of the Winter Olympic Games. Men's singles, ladies' singles, and pair skating have been held most often. "

Ok, maybe hockey.

Get a nice Browning T-bolt and use the money you've saved on a good biathlon sling. In the summer, lots of folks in Scandinavia use roller blades and air rifles - same deal, but without the frostbite.

Oooh, yeah, or maybe the new Volquartsen Summit.

Hockey coming up!

Fantastic women’s hockey tonight, USA vs Canada. Not all going USA way, but great game nevertheless.

OK we watched Savchenko and Massot do their freestyle skate. It was flawless. They got the highest score ever given for that event.

Wow, openly gay figure skating. New for this year. Between the johnny weird or whatever his name is and the participants. I have seen enough.

I will take curling all day and night. Thank you very much.

U.S. does require it. And civics test. Ask me how I know.

I am not sure why you decided to inject politics, and a baseless one, into a thread about the Winter Olympics.
