For entertainment you can't beat these Yankee Flipper squirrel proof bird feeders.
I've had one for about 9 years and they really work and last.
They are fun to watch squirrels try to figure them out. Eventually they just hang out underneath to pick up what the birds drop.

One more vote for the over-nighter someplace where you could take a walk and watch wildlife. Nice dinner. Relax. No tv.

I've had a lot of fun with the hummingbird feeder. That animal might be the coolest thing there is. Might not have them in your area though.

Some type of fountain or bird bath will provide hours of good watching and great photo ops, as has been said. And a food source should increase the traffic too.

"Phone scope" A gizmo that attaches the cell phone to her binoculars. Provide the make and model of both the phone and the optic to the company and they make one up. Not very sexy, but wold tun her binos into a telephoto lens. Kinda fun.

Purple martin houses!

Could be a "build 'em together" project!

Some get pretty exotic!

Mine was easy this year, albeit not cheap. She told me she wanted a particular purse or a massage appointment....I guess she gets both

Not as good an idea as most already offered but thought of a game camera popped into mind. She could put it near some nests she wants to watch but doesn’t have the time to stay out there.

Does she have a nice set of kitchen knives?
There has been lots of discussion and recommendation of those here.
I bought a set of Shun Premiers for my wife, but lots like the Zwillings.

I would suggest getting her a portable hide, one big enough for a chair to sit in. Something like the C30.1 Dome Hide.

It keeps the sun and rain off while giving room for a chair and binos on a tripod. It should increase the number of birds around, since they can't see her.

Perhaps consider some Audubon Bird Prints?

This place has some and they seem reasonably priced.

There are art dealer’s out there that are selling originals and/or rare or limited prints for more, and in some cases much much more.

Here is one such gallery in the much much more category.

Funny. I noticed this thread was - momentarily - followed by a thread seeking advice for recliner chairs. I strongly discourage you from buying her a recliner (unless warranted by physical limitations / concerns)!

Otherwise, ask some of her friends. They may suggest ideas that you’ll unknowingly neglect.

Most of all, make it (the whole weekend) about her and not begrudgingly.

Good luck!
