President Trump wants it done by July 4th. Ron Johnson says maybe by August recess. Senator Johnson has a lot valid points.

The Senate parliamentarian needs to be back-handed and sent back to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the elected representatives of the people. It is absolute bullshit that she is allowed to determine what the Senate will consider with regard to this bill.

The parliamentarian can and should be overruled. It’s happened before. The current parliamentarian was appointed by Harry Reid. It’s insane that we would allow her to have any influence of any kind.

Hell yes!! the Senate Parliamentarian can be be fired by the Senate Majority leader Thune who is Republican. The current Parliamentarian is a Democrat appointee appointed back in 2012 by Democrat Senate Majority leader Harry Reid. So why isn't Thune stepping up to get rid of her.

Senate leader Thune says won't overrule chamber's parliamentarian on GOP Medicaid cuts

https://justthenews.com/govern..._campaign=newsletter

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., said Thursday that he will not overrule the Senate parliamentarian on GOP Medicaid cuts in the budget reconciliation bill.

Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough rejected Republicans' plan to cap the states' use of healthcare provider taxes to collect more federal Medicaid funding, per a Democratic summary of the parliamentarian's ruling.

The provision would have generated hundreds of billions of dollars in savings to offset the cost of making President Trump's 2017 tax cuts permanent.

Senate Republicans' options to bypass the parliamentarian's rulings include having a simple-majority floor vote to establish a new precedent, which would expand the scope of what is eligible under reconciliation, or attempting to rewrite the cap in a way that meets the parliamentarian's approval.

“No. That would not be a good outcome for getting a bill done,” Thune told reporters at the Capitol regarding overruling MacDonough, The Hill news outlet reported.

Thune said that Republican leaders knew “it was going to be an interesting conversation” with the Senate parliamentarian about the provision, but he believes there are actions that senators can take to find similar savings.

“These are … short-term setbacks,” Thune said. “Speed bumps, if you will. We’re focused on the goal.”

“We were obviously trying to get as much in terms of savings as we could. We pushed hard to try and achieve that,” he also said.

“There are things that we can do,” Thune said. “There are other ways of getting to that same outcome.”

Regarding his plan to hold a vote on Friday to begin consideration on the floor, Thune said, “We’ll see,” noting ongoing discussions with the parliamentarian. “We’ll see how it all lands.”

Republicans Scramble After Senate Parliamentarian Nixes Deep Cuts From 'Big Beautiful Bill'

It isn't just rogue judges subverting the will of the people... The Republicans' Big Beautiful Bill was dealt a major blow on Thursday after the Senate Parliamentrian gutted nine major provisions included in GOP efforts to cut $250 billion in Medicaid and other health care spending.

Democrat parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough's latest rulings include major pieces of Medicaid policy - including a plan to reduce federal expenses by cracking down on a state provider tax, which would have had a nine-figure impact on the bill.

She also struck down;

Immigrant Medicaid eligibility
Prohibiting Medicaid and Children's health insurance (CHIP) from funding 'gender affirming care'
Restricting certain states from increasing taxes on providers
Limiting noncitizen immigrants from qualifying for premium tax credits or cost-sharing reductions
Disallowing premium tax credits during periods of Medicaid ineligibility due to immigrant status

The rulings couldn't have come at a worse time for Senate Majority Leader John Thune and other GOP leaders - who are trying to carefully handle an internal revolt from members wary of the practical and political impacts of the Medicaid changes.

Some Republicans are PISSED

"The Senate Parliamentarian is not elected. She is not accountable to the American people," Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) posted on X. "Yet she holds veto power over legislation supported by millions of voters."

.Steube called on Vice President JD Vance to 'overrule the Parliamentarian and let the will of the people, not some staffer hiding behind Senate procedure, determine the future of this country.'
Ignore her?

The Senate parliamentarian is a nonpartisan advisor who interprets the Senate's rules, including the Byrd Rule, which limits what can be included in reconciliation bills. Their guidance is not legally binding - it's advisory, but traditionally followed to maintain Senate norms.

Senate Republicans can 'ignore' her rulings in two ways;

Option 1: The Presiding Officer Overrules

The presiding officer of the Senate, Vice President JD Vance, can choose to ignore the parliamentarian's advice and rule in favor of including the provision.

This is extremely unusual. If it happens:

Any senator can challenge the ruling, triggering a vote on whether to uphold it.

If a simple majority supports the override, the ruling stands — effectively overruling the parliamentarian.

Option 2: Fire or Replace the Parliamentarian

The Senate Majority Leader John Thune could request a different parliamentarian or pressure the presiding officer to disregard the current one's rulings.

This happened once before:

In 2001, the Republican-controlled Senate replaced Parliamentarian Robert Dove after disagreements over tax cuts.

Leftists Storm Capitol to Protest the ‘Big Beautiful Bill

https://evol.news/news/leftist...beautiful-bill-evol/

A mob of leftists invaded the U.S. Capitol Building today to protest the Big Beautiful Bill.

CNBC reported:

Capitol Police arrest dozens of people protesting Medicaid cuts in Trump budget bill

U.S. Capitol Police arrested more than 30 protesters on Wednesday, including some in wheelchairs, during a demonstration against the proposed Medicaid cuts in President Donald Trump’s budget bill.

Thirty-three people were arrested “for illegally demonstrating inside the Russell Senate Office Building,” a spokesperson for Capitol Police told CNBC.

The group was arrested for crowding, obstructing or incommoding.

“It is against the law to protest inside the Congressional Buildings,” the spokesperson said.

One other protester was “arrested for crossing a police line outside” while law enforcement was processing the arrests, said the spokespersion, bringing the total number of arrests to 34 people.

“It should be noted that there are other places on Capitol Grounds where people can lawfully demonstrate without issue,” the spokesperson told CNBC.

Go Home, Mr. Vice President: Senate Clears Key Procedural Vote on Trump Reconciliation Bill Outright

The reconciliation package—aka the ‘big, beautiful bill’–was dragged over the finish line in a crucial procedural vote. Vice President JD Vance arrived on the Hill to cast the tiebreaking vote if necessary. It was not needed.

The motion passed 51-49. Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Rand Paul (R-KY) voted against advancing what will be Trump's signature domestic legislation. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) did vote against the motion, but later changed his vote. Republicans came too close to making perfect the enemy of the good, the headline for this weekend.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune was able to bring it home. The problem is, Lord knows what was hashed out behind closed doors to make that happen. Additionally, as planned, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) objected to unanimous consent, which is why he remained seated in the chamber throughout this time. The clerk will now read the whole BBB, which will take hours.
