Apparently, even if a conviction is obtained, state judges are giving the fraudsters absurdly - considering the scope of the crime - light sentences. Who wouldn't want to spend a few months in jail, with food, shelter and medical care, knowing there's a mountain of cash waiting for them when they get out? Sounds like a good investment. Roll Eyes

That makes it even worse, if that's possible.

Everybody was wanting to see Donald Trump's financials. Let's see hers.

Are the convicted individuals being made to pay restitution? That might make shorter sentences understandable.

Well, look at the bright side - at least they cannot be pardoned in a few years if the GOP loses the Presidency.

Unfortunately, once a handful of Somali's are sentenced, I suspect this marks the end of the fraud investigation in MN. I would love to be wrong, however.

It's already back to business as usual in Minnesota. The ICE dust up is all but forgotten and was just a brief interruption. Everybody kept their positions, and are doing what they were doing just a few months ago. Well except for Kristi Noem I guess. Minnesota was so out of control we had to fire one of our own people! Most everyone in the state government was openly committing and participating in insurrection, enabling fraud of billions of federal tax dollars and the outcome is our head of DHS gets fired! Can't make it up! Meanwhile the Somalis are still here, Ilhan is still here, fraud continues and Walz and the entire establishment are back in full operation. But as soon as we figure out how to start an investigation into people who commit fraud to enter the country illegally and then find their way into congress, well I'm sure we will be informed.

Ilhan is really a hot potato. Everyone seems to have the goods on her scamming and shamming but then she keeps getting passed off. Well up to the plate steps Marco Rubio. C'mon Marco bases are loaded the count is full. Swing for the seats!

Could Marco Rubio be the one to take down the woke and seemingly untouchable Rep. Ilhan Omar?

He seems to think that $40 million fortune of hers came from something different than wine sales from her winery.

Which is shockingly direct. Usually, they don't state things so directly.

But if it's true that Omar ran a pay-to-play refugee operation, it would surely be illegal. And who would be in a position to know this better than Rubio who runs the Department of State and all its adjacents?

With a confident tweet like that, it seems likely that he knows something. What's more, he's been after her for at least six weeks;

None of this can be good news for Omar. Thus far, she seems to be saying nothing and maybe laying low,

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Didn't the DOJ drop the financial investigation into her and hand it off to the House Ethics Committee? What powers does the House Ethics Committee have? Certainly not that of the DOJ. I'd be delighted if they just got her the hell out of Congress. While I remain hopeful I'm not betting on that happening. It's almost reached a comical stage.

I am Filipino and I HATE SCAMMERS especially ones that use their own and scam their own.

Disturbing case involving Filipino workers

According to authorities, a couple in California was charged with human trafficking and wage theft after allegedly exploiting Filipino caregivers at senior homes in Vista and Escondido, officials said in April 2026.
Prosecutors say workers were forced to work up to 24 hours a day, underpaid, and had wages withheld—one victim reportedly owed over $175,000. Officials say the couple pleaded not guilty and face up to 19 years in prison if convicted

Even more Filipino fraud in California. These scammers are a disgrace need to be deported back to the Philippines !!!

UPDATE: $50M MEDICARE FRAUD CRACKDOWN IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Federal authorities have uncovered a massive healthcare fraud network involving fake hospice care schemes across Southern California.

Key Figures Charged
Nita Almuete Paddit Palma (76) – Thrice-convicted fraudster already serving prison time
Adolfo Catbagan (68) – Alleged co-conspirator
Lolita Beronilla Minerd – Linked to a major $9M hospice fraud operation
Several others tied to multiple fraudulent hospice companies

THE $9 MILLION “ARTESIA” SCHEME

One of the most shocking cases involves Lolita Beronilla Minerd, a licensed vocational nurse:

Allegedly operated Topanga Hospice Care Inc. as a front for fraud
Between 2020 and 2025, billed Medicare over $9 MILLION
Patients were falsely declared “terminally ill” despite being healthy

Recruitment Method:

Cash kickbacks reportedly handed out
Sometimes delivered in envelopes at local markets
Used to recruit individuals into fake hospice enrollment

Background Note:
While official government records regarding her exact place of birth have not been publicly released, reports from outlets such as KTLA 5 News indicate that Lolita Beronilla Minerd is of Filipino origin.

HOW THE OVERALL SCHEME WORKED

Across multiple cases:

Non-terminal individuals were recruited
Falsely certified as “dying” patients
Medicare billed for expensive hospice care
Minimal or no actual treatment provided
Patients sometimes recycled across providers

Total estimated losses: Over $50 MILLION

⚠️ WHY THIS MATTERS

This wasn’t just fraud—it was a systematic abuse of end-of-life care programs:

Exploits vulnerable individuals
Drains taxpayer-funded healthcare
Undermines trust in hospice care

WHAT’S NEXT
Defendants face serious federal charges
Long prison sentences possible if convicted
Investigations ongoing — more arrests expected

Having dated a number of Pinoys and some of my best friends being Fil-Am, I'm not surprised. Predatory opportunism knows no barriers to ethnicities or races and hearing stories of exploitive health care workers, particularly those around senior-homes is no surprise. Being in CA, the chances of those perpetrators being Asian background are much greater, in our neighborhood there is a home converted for senior care, all caregivers are Filipino with half of them coming over from the islands on work visas. The owners are Chinese but from the PI however the old-country divisions & hierarchy still exists, can only imagine what kind of impropriety is going on.
