Da Fuq is an 'E-Branch' service anyway?

Here’s a clue, but it’s not clear how I’d use a “e-branch service” to buy anything.

e-Branch:
“Bank on your own time, wherever you may be.
Available 24/7, e-Branch – our online/mobile banking platform – allows you to do just about everything you could at a branch from your computer, tablet or phone. And the best part? It’s totally free! You can access e-Branch through our website or download our ACU app to your phone”

https://ascentcu.com/e-branch/

Sooo, fancy useless term for online/mobile banking then...Got it! Wink

Plausible...
I would wager there's a mid-level manager/director who took some liberties to 'expand' their policy of prohibited transactions, leaning on how 'they interpreted company policy'

Here are parts of the TOS for Fidelity's bill pay service. I think most of it is not wanting to accept any liability for these kind of 'legal' payments:

"The Service is not intended for use to make payments for alimony, child support, any type of insurance, taxes or other government fees or court-directed payments. You acknowledge that if you do submit a payment to one of these restricted vendors through the Service, Fidelity will not assume any liability for penalties, cancellation of coverage or any other expense, claim or damage related to nonpayment upon the processing or completion of such a payment. Any such payments are done at your own risk. While you are still able to submit such payments through the Service, they will not be covered under the Payment Guarantee in Section 13."

Seems like Banks are either saying their new fancypants e bank platform is either not as secure as traditional services, and are clearly not as reliable. "Don't use these services for anything wherew your payment has to get to the right place on time"

I have used Navy Federal's bill pay service for years now and never had an issue with the delivery of a paper check. EFTs, the majority of the payments, are a no-brainer.
