Problems with US Postal System? Login/Join

Anyone else having problems with the US Postal System?

We have shipped 4 pkgs with USPS in the last month, with tracking numbers, 3 are lost.

A priority envelope to my daughter, CA to UT, I tracked it on the delivery date, they said delivered. My daughter went to her mailbox, nothing there. I emailed, got a response. A cust service fellow said he went to that facility, checked every mailbox, nothing, it was lost, I should file a claim. I filed a claim, it came back denied.

Daughter sent a car part, FL to CA last month, delayed (vanished?).

I sent a dozen academic books to my brother, CA to UT, media mail, tracked it. It kept coming back "delayed". I requested a search, they responded, the pkg was somehow sent to Iowa. A week later I requested a status update, they said it is in "recovery", the package couldn't be delivered, couldn't be returned to sender, assigned to their recovery facility in Atlanta (IE, the heavy duty shipping box with three layers of shipping tape was destroyed beyond recognition?). Could I send to them a list of the book titles, authors, ISBN numbers, colors of the book covers (scattered across the countryside?). And, media mail has no insurance, I am out a few $$hundred.

My son had some important material to send to me, we told him to use UPS.

Yes, items sent and never showing up on tracking, or showing up for the first time on the day of delivery. Priority 2 day packages taking 7 or 8 business days. When I asked what was up, "COVID" was the standard response... Roll Eyes

So my packages tested positive for COVID? Smile

I have a package that states tracking number generated and the shipper claims it shipped last week. USPS keeps saying they never got it and the shipper shows me evidence they did.

Methinks a bunch of temp workers are stealing and I mean a bunch of them.

I haven't had any lost but 3 day priority takes 7-10 days. I just paid $5 more to ship a package today using UPS over USPS. I hate going to my local Post Office where I'll have to wait in line 10-30 minutes (with only one employee working the counter) to mail packages since the drop box is broken or full. USPS sucks

The last few packages that have shipped through USPS has either shown up late or not at all. Can't track the package b/c it seems to be stuck at a shipping hub. Very annoying and now I look to see who does the shipping and try to avoid the USPS.

Horse Puckey!!!!!

You need to find a phone number to contact your area's USPS Consumer Affairs Department.

I've had the same issue and always got the run around from the carrier and my local post office employees. They want to blow you off by giving you excuses instead of trying to find the problem.

Does your daughter live in a house with it's own mailbox? If so this can help. If she lives in an apartment or an area where the mail is delivered to a cluster box then this way may not help.

After talking to a bunch of postal employees with no luck, one finally gave me information about the USPS District Consumer Affairs Department.

The one in my area has a lady who is a bulldog and doesn't give excuses, she goes after the problem.

More than once I've called her specifically and gave her the tracking number. She said when the mailman scans the bar code a message is sent in with the GPS coordinates. She verified that those were NOT my mailbox coordinates and sent an employee to go to the home where they were my priority mail or packages were actually delivered to the wrong address. That person was able to retrieve my mail and bring it to my mailbox no later than the next day.

And BTW when I went to the post office to complain a jerk employee asked my address, entered it and turned the screen to me and asked if that was a pic of my mailbox. It was, I replied, and he said well it was put in your mailbox so it must have been stolen.

I called the District Consumer Affairs Department, gave her the tracking number, she looked up and said No it's in a different mailbox and sent someone after it.

So, basically when the tracking number is scanned, if it's a typical house or business the scan GPS data will tell the truth. However, as I said above, if you live in an apartment or neighborhood with the cluster mailboxes, and it's scanned there, there's not enough real estate space to tell the difference.

There are good mail employees, but some are worthless and don't give a flip about helping you and just want you to go away and leave them alone. I detest that sort of behavior.

Good luck to you.

I had some mags take about 10 days to be received through USPS, kept getting conflicting tracking messages. My regular mail lady who is awesome was out on vacation for the latter part of these 10 days. Upon her return she said they have pallets of undelivered parcels now with Covid and they are just behind.

My package was delivered on a Sunday believe it or not.

I still pay some bills by check and two have been so slow in delivery recently that I had to pay them online to avoid late fees.

I've been using Priority Mail Flat Rate for over a decade without ever losing even one.
Lately however, the tracked shipments are not getting there on time, especially if they transit a few particular parts of the country. Northeast US and California seem particularly bad right now.
Other people tell me that UPS and Fedex are even worse lately.

Thanks all for the feedback.

My daughter does live in a condo complex with a few cluster boxes scattered through the place. The local customer service said he checked all of the cluster boxes in that complex, nada.

A neighbor mentioned he had confirmed shipment with tracking for one of his important meds. He ended up driving to three different USPS centers, all denied having any record of them having received the pkg at their facility. He had the doctor ship a replacement pkg of the med, different carrier. Both shipments arrived the same day. ????

Words to live by. UPS, or FedEx, and insured up the wazoo, would be my recommendation.

I'd say that TEN weeks for a package to go from UK to Oregon is indicative of a real problem with the US Mail. However, it bears close comparison with the mayhem that is currently Canada Post - my cousin's package, in the same post office mailbag here in UK, hasn't reached them yet.....

Yes, I have been waiting for a part from Brownells since 7/14...it’s been in Portland since 7/18, says shipped-in transit...

I know Mail gets about by aircrafts, and I guess they haven’t been flying as much.

I’d have paid the extra money to get it, if they sent it by ups.

I’ve had three Conversations with Brownells, and they say it’s a customer relations problem and someone will call/email me....

I’ve given up
