Michael Bloomberg preparing to enter the Democratic Primary fray Login/Join

I was surprised that Bloomberg seemed to be so unprepared to debate.
He really didn't strike back at the low hanging fruit and seemed to be content to just not draw any more attention to himself after the opening pummeling he got from all of them.
Shell-shocked best described him. He should be reconsidering even being in debates if the can't do better than this. He may just want to continue overwhelming the weaker candidates with his massive advertising campaign until he has no other choice but to reappear down the road and the field has narrowed some.
If he were to end up as the Democrat nominee, the others have damaged him so badly and painted him as just like Trump in the mind of leftists.
Right now he looks like the worst of both sides.

I was surprised by this, as well.

The women and the NDAs thing, in particular. With the way the Dems went after Kavahaugh on essentially no evidence and the way they've chewed up and spat out their own over similar issues, one would've thought he'd at least be prepared to get hammered on it. To have no acceptable answer to their charges is one thing, but to be caught looking like a deer in the headlights?

He and his campaign staff screwed up big time on that one.

One of the commentators (I think it was on Fox before I had to look up the channel for MSNBC) talked before the debate started about Bloomberg having prepared for the debate for a while. I don’t know how much experience his debate coaching staff has but I think he paid them way too much.

Summary: The $500 million Bloomberg has spent so was worth it because it got him to the stage.

But every single dollar he spends after last night's performance might as well be lit on fire.

Presidential hopeful Mike Bloomberg pulled off the impossible during Wednesday night’s Democratic primary debate when he got essentially every political pundit in the mainstream media to agree on something.

Unfortunately for Bloomberg, they all agreed that he was the evening’s biggest loser.

Mike Bloomberg's campaign manager conceded Thursday that the former New York mayor struggled to counter blows from his fellow Democratic presidential candidates at his first primary debate — acknowledging that "Mike's got to get his legs under him" as the nominating contest wears on.

"Certainly he had a better second half of the debate than the first, I will admit that," Kevin Sheekey told MSNBC, noting that Wednesday night's forum in Las Vegas marked Bloomberg's first debate performance since he sought a third term as mayor in 2009.

"You know, he got his legs quickly in the second half, and I think people recognized that," Sheekey continued. "He's competing against career politicians who have spent the entirety of the last year and, quite frankly, most of their lives doing exactly what they saw last night."

The frank appraisal from the top staffer on Bloomberg's campaign came hours after the billionaire businessman was throttled on stage by five other White House contenders over his mayoral record, treatment of women in the workplace, vast personal fortune and various other contentious issues.

Sheekey granted Thursday that Bloomberg's team "need[s] to push back a little harder against" the candidate's rivals and "get Mike's record out there better than we did last night."

He insisted, however, that Bloomberg "wasn't frazzled" by the onslaught, and asserted that "fundamentally, I don't really see a change" in the dynamics of the race as a result of the debate.

Sheekey also cautioned that "this fight has just started" and confirmed that Bloomberg would go on to participate in the next debate Tuesday in Charleston, South Carolina.

This is what happens when someone who is surrounded by yes men and ass kissers steps into an environment where he has to win on his merit. I think it is great that Warren woke up this morning thinking she was Muhammad Ali when in fact she just beat down someone who was lobbing soft balls at his competition. The false sense of security will be strong.

The second half of the debate, really the last 80%, he did his duck and cover routine so he wouldn't get any more questions.
The other candidates were frantically waving their hand to talk while he stood there like a statue, hoping nobody would notice his presence.
I'll bet that was a fun debrief with his staff afterwards.

That (D) appendation absolves him of many sins, though. Much like how the (R) appendation suddenly made Trump a heretic.
