$6.17 a gallon here and not “mostly tax”. It’s oil company greed and intentional malfeasance. But. If you don’t believe them that are they just the nicest guys and it’s all someone else’s fault, you’re just too angry to understand. Why do you think the oil companies need to claim you are angry and unstable instead of just standing on their own position? Look at the garbage you’re being fed. It’s “temporary pain”. It’s about “replacement cost” when they want the gas in the pumps at your station to go up .50-.60 cents a gallon. It’s not about “replacement cost” when it takes gas 6 weeks to drop after crude dropping sharply. It’s not a democrat or Republican issue. Fuel sky rockets under both. The common denominator is obscene profits that the oil companies are raking in right now. But, they will marginalize that and try to smoke show it to make it seem less. I paid $5.30/gal yesterday for 87 unleaded at a no brand dealer. But that is with CA taxes. The Chevron dealer across the street was asking $6.16. | |||

I had to pay $5.79 today and I'm getting really sick and fucking tired of it. There is no excuse for this price gouging. None. We've got plenty of oil, we're getting plenty from Venezuela, and the Strait of Hormuz is essentially open. It is gouging. And, as usual, the government is doing exactly nothing about it. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. The Founding Fathers gave us this tool to fix an out of control government and we need to use it. | |||

We had a big jump locally. Yesterday I paid $4.99 9/10 for Sinclair 88 oct. I had run my Bronco down to 23 miles to empty, cost $102.00 to fill, a record for me. "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea. | |||

My daughter gassed up today for $4.19/gal for 87. She got 10c off per gallon for using the fleet card. I gassed up yesterday for $4.69/gal for 93. It was 20c off per gallon. Not minority enough! | |||

$3.99 for the cheap stuff at the grocery store here in Winchester tonight. ~18mpg Tacoma hurts, but at least I only have to commute 3 days/week. I REALLY wish we had more CONUS refining. PLUS substantially more strategic reserves not only at the Fed level, but robust reserves of refined product at the state/regional level. I'm talking Operation Warp Speed focus. Shame POTUS and Congress cannot make that happen. | |||

Gas in 1980-1981 was in the $1.00 range. In today's monkeymoney, that's about $4. So a dollar a gallon, plus or minus what octane and where you were living. Compared to $4 a gallon, plus or minus the, well, you know... the thing. Lets all focus on fuel price and ignore everything else. Because the fuel thing, we see once or twice a week, and we perceive it is a bigger part of what is hurting us. But we tend to ignore, or walk past those things that don't directly impact us. You want to know how you lose "the game", is is exactly that same paridigm. Keeping an eye on "black mold" that might be growing in the corner of a closet, and never consider the Formosa termites, that cannot be seen, eating the most important part of the house, while focusing on the painted walls...
