I found this Lucky Gunner video very enlightening. I'm sure many of you may already have this knowledge "in your pocket", but I didn't, and I think it brings some value to the subject of CC for some carriers that goes well beyond "better to have a small gun than no gun at all". The video is 10 mins with an intro by a master class shooter/instructor, followed by Lucky Gunner's Chris Baker's comments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv6PxB2TqLM I bet some of us may not be aware of this information and perspective in the same way that I was not either, and would like to hear your guys thoughts about this particular subject. Once I switched to pocket carrying my P365 (9mm), after having a gun on my hip 24/7 for 14 years, I don't know why I didn't sooner. I no longer carry on my hip, and have no desire to ever again. If I want little smaller/lighter, the BG 2.0 is perfect and .380 works for me; plus, the size of the gun is on par with guns carrying much smaller calibers. I also keep my LCPII (w/7 round mag) around for when I go walking/jogging around my neighborhood. _____________________________________ P220, P225, P226, P228, P229 Legion, P230, P230SL, P239, 38H, P365, P365 faux Legion, M17X, M17 Full, M18, P210 Standard, P210 Carry Custom Works, SP2022

Pocket carry is a viable option provided your clothing "dresses" for the gun. For me, its jacket pocket most of the time. The Yoop has two seasons: Winter and August. So a jacket is used often! End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

been pocket carrying a Jframe or (mostly) a Seecamp for years, sometimes break out the SIG or 1911 on the hip, but even then that Seecamp is in the pocket https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

I wear shorts pretty much year round and have been pocket carrying for years. I used to carry a LCP but upgunned to a 365 a few years back. It sits upright in a sticky holster between my leg and my cell phone. The cell phone breaks up any outline that may print. “We truly live in a wondrous age of stupid.” - 83v45magna "I think it's important that people understand free speech doesn't mean free from consequences societally or politically or culturally." -Pranjit Kalita, founder and CIO of Birkoa Capital Management

The 938 Legion is my go-to now (post-striker fired era). I'm amazed at what they've been able to do in a package that small. I still holster carry -- thin Kydex style. Anything larger becomes much less easily integrated into my life.

I have carried large stuff since i started carrying. One time a Para 14-45 was my carry gun (that thing was heavy, a double stack 1911 in 45 acp holding 14 rounds). Recently I upgraded my G43 to an Sig AXG Legion due to the extra capacity. But, lately I tend to carry a Turkish mini 1911 in 9mm or my S&W 9mm revolver or the Kahr PM40 due to size. Smaller is better most of the time but if I a traveling or going to areas where I have a higher probability of needing it I will carry the Sig. So far avoidance has done more to keep me out of situations where I would need a firearm than what I am carrying ever has.

I always have the Spanish Inquisition (NAA Pocket Revolver 22LR) in my change pocket. It's loaded with CCI MaxiMag Varmint 1600fps JHP. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

My thoughts are that this should have been posted in the pistol or conceal carry sections. This is where my signature goes.

In my very limited experience/reading, attacks on the street often involve an “interview” phase. Having a pocket gun, and pockets, sized so that it’s possible to have a proper grip on the gun, while being interviewed seems very comforting/to dissuade much trouble. I think if you include that phase, pocket carry might be the fastest way to deploy, as it’s not possible (AFAIK) to have a waist carried fun in your hand until a threat is fairly imminent. (Don’t get me wrong. When I worked in rough areas, I hip carried, eventually we just switched to open carry, with retention. As an urban pedestrian, I think pocket carry or appendix are the only two forms which work.)

The other thing is shootability. We started shooting federal wadcutters out of our j frames, because they hit POA and are easy to practice with/hit with.

In Florida, it's hot, we don't wear overcoats or winter jackets, most of the time it's lightweight clothing, shorts are the norm at least for me and when wearing slacks or jeans I still don't have on a good shirt for IWB or OWB carry coverage, especially if you tuck shirts. So pocket carry has been the normal method, started with a KelTec P3AT, light, easy to conceal, then P238, upgraded to p938, which was problematic as the safety kept clicking off in my pocket and I wasn't comfortable with that, the Ruger LCRR in 38, which was good but I wasn't happy with the trigger, a Rugers LCP in 380 and upgraded to the LCP MAX 380.

Yes, a pocket pistol/mouse gun is better than throwing rocks or harsh words. BUT…. It better be enough gun! Enough to make a bad guy *** in whatever mental and physical state *** stop what he’s doing quickly. You want “immediate”? Pick a shotgun or a rifle cartridge. The situation- More than likely (speaking from statistics) it’s going to be within 10 - 15 feet. It’s going to happen in seconds. Sometimes you might see the bad guy coming, sometimes not. Sometimes the bad guy comes with friends. Sometimes they have guns way bigger than what you have in your pocket. Tell me THAT doesn’t change the situation!!!! You’re with your wife, your kids, and older parent. Again, changing the situation- now you’re thinking about other people. The gun, or “enough gun”- Do you really want a .22 to be your only line of defense? On the other hand, I’ve seen a in-car camera from an incident about a dozen years ago where a bad guy took TWO high center mass hits from a .40 cal in a park. Bad guy ran over 100 yards after he was hit, still carrying the large knife before bad guy dropped dead. And a .40 caliber is a formidable round! Yes, there’s places and climates here where toting around a P-226, 92F, or as slim as a 1911 or a BHP is, becomes a problem. So some are limited to a pocket rocket. My advice is, do a little research about shootings and terminal ballistics. It’s an eye opener! I say this because some people have a weird expectation of what SHOULD happen versus what ACTUALLY happens. Whatever one decides on after that, a revolver, a semiautomatic, a sling shot: PRACTICE! Then when you get comfortable, PRACTICE some more. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. That’s the trade off, I think most people know that. But, my PM40 that I will be wearing at church tonight with 2 extra mags will work until I can get to my vehicle where I have backup. I might be wrong, but I think most people will never experience an incident where they will need to use a firearm. Mot will carry for decades and never need it so over the years complacency sets in. But, if they do get into a situation where it is needed, that is when the pocket gun choice may turn out to be insufficient. It’s a gamble I am taking but 380 is the smallest I would carry and even with that I have multiple mags available.
