The part I don't understand is why ES didn't or wasn't allowed to go away quietly. I don't think even he thought he had a chance to win as governor, and it appears he was pressured to drop out. Possibly the momentum of the accusers wasn't exactly related to the election?

Maybe the worst is yet to come, and this is a desperate attempt to get him out of focus before that hits. Possibly they are just squeezing all they can get out of him, and the only redemption is looking like they resign when they should.

Gallegos had a classic deer in the headlight look in his presser denying he knew anything. He could truly be showing pure embarrassment, but I seriously doubt it. He knows he’s one shoe drop away from the same fate.

He wasn't going to win CA governor, but he was polling well compared to other DEM candidates. None of the top DEM contenders were willing to drop out so DEMs would have a better chance of landing in the top two spots in the June primary if one or two DEMs dropped out. If even one DEM gets one of the two top spots in the June primary, it's game over for REPs Hilton or Bianco. The CA DEM machine will get out the vote (campaigning, ballot harvesting, union pressure, uninformed voters) and crush the REP.

The Swalwell exercise was not to bring justice to these women. The entire goal (successful might I add) was to get him out of the CA governor race. The affairs and whoring around was merely the method.

If anyone was ever in lock step with the dems and would appear to follow any party directive to drop out, it would seem to be ES. I would have predicted him to be low on the list of anyone who would defy the party. Because of dirt or just allegiance.

I'll go out on a limb and guess this has something to do with Fang Fang and giving secrets away. He may be the tip of the iceberg as far as a pack of traitors.

Oh, I think Swalwell had a chance to become one of the top two in the June primary; between him, Hilton and Bianco, polling was tight, and after all, it is polling, not exact numbers. IMO, the Dems saw an opportunity with Swalwell when Kash Patel brought the Fang Fang case out of mothballs last month and started to dig, also wanting the files and docs pertaining to the case released. The Dem field of candidates needed to shrink with June coming fast, and they pulled out the ol' MeToo routine on one of their own. And now various polls have Democrat Tom Steyer leading the pack, imagine that.

My opinion is they did go to him and tell him he was done and his ego is so huge he told them to F off since Whatever job they offered him wasn’t enough So the contract on his political life went out.

Always liked Bryan Lanza.
Gallegos' presser looked like he was looking for the closest desk he could hid under. No doubt his aids and Dem leadership told him he needed to face the press and take all the arrows shot at him.

Common' Nancy, you knew, you're the grand dame of the House you protected him from the Fang-Fang situation

Sort of related- former Democrat Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax, who had his own MeToo accusations over 5 years ago, apparently shot and murdered his wife last night before tunring the gun on himself, while their two children were at home. Their divorce, triggered by his sex scandals while in office, was a messy one.

Golly, why wasn't he red flagged? Wasn't there a bunch of abuse and violence accusations against him? Isn't that what those darling red flag laws are for? Something must be (D)ifferent here...

Most people of power can do virtually anything without fear of reprisal. This has been proven. I have said this before and it holds true. Sexual proclivities be it of the illegal kind or consensual dalliances have toppled more ivory towers than anything else regardless of how criminal it may be. As far as improper spending of campaign funds I'd be willing to bet the majority of those in Washington are guilty of the same. Is the appetite of the Dems as strong to bury Gallego as it is Sawlwell? We shall see, but it is fun to watch!

Back when Swalwell was running for POTUS, Gallego was his campaign manager. Two horndogs in the same campaign, leaving the wives back home.

quote:
“Gallego was [the] chairman of Swalwell’s presidential campaign. They went everywhere together,” McCarthy told Fox’s Jesse Watters. “And normally when you go on foreign trips–it’s Republicans and Democrats–your spouse is with you. They went on a lot of trips just the two of them, in a lot of places. I think people need to look at that.”
