I've seen lavender stop goose eggs from turning colors more times than I can count.

I've seen all 4 of my kids gnarly warts completely disappear with oregano and some others. Two different blends for two different viruses, that was an expensive bitch to figure out.

I've personally had an explosive migraine cured with a blend of Wintergreen and a few others. Granted, I had to hover over the diffuser for about half an hour, but every inhale was sweet relief, and every time I waited about 10 seconds between huff's was misery.

I've slept better consistently with cedarwood, felt reenergized with lemon after a hard round of yardwork and watched my wife's chronic jaw pain disappear completely with ningxia. But yeah, there's a lot of snake oil out there too. YMMV.

So we are 3 nights in to the witchcraft.
I can probably count on 2 hands the times our 4 year old has slept thru the night. He generally gets up twice during the night I get him back to bed and he is up at 5:15 to 5:45 for the day.

3 nights with the lavender witchcraft (don't worry checking for boob growth weekly) and he has not woken up at all in the middle of the night all 3 nights. He is still getting up between 5:15 and 5:45.

I have told him nothing about the diffuser or what it does. Just said it was a new nightlight so I am presuming we are not looking at a placebo effect.

I ordered a 2 pack diffuser and 1 was broken on arrival so I did not test it on the younger boy. He sleeps from 7-7 with no issue so I am not too worried about it.

They're not snake oil, but you have to watch some of the wild claims some companies or sellers make. Are they useful? Yes. I never used them in the past, but my GF is into them. I like the various blends she comes up with to run in the diffusers. Plus it makes the house smell better.

Some combinations seem to be really good for the muscles on her back she has issues with. I will not claim to understand why these specific compounds do useful things, but I will claim that they seem to do what they're supposed to do.

We grow lavender, valerian and chamomile. The dried lavender flowers and stems last a long time and smell great. Add dried valerian root and chamomile flowers to tea for a calming drink. The chamomile grows easily for me, but the other 2 are more finicky. I have also used our home grown calendula on a small burn I got a while ago and it worked really well.

Recall a couple that brought a sleeping baby into the ER. Their complaint "He won't go to sleep." It quickly developed that the baby was feeling the parents stress. They were stress, he got stressed, they got stressed. Once they decided to come in, the stress level dropped and the kid went to sleep.

We often self-talk. Telling ourselves what we expect to happen, not surprisingly it does. Anything that will break the cycle helps.

Two words: Melatonin gummies. They sell them at your local large chain drugstore (Walgreens, etc). Break 'em in half & feed one near bedtime. Works wonders for our 3-year old tornado.

I would tread carefully with melatonin. Your body will stop producing it if you use it as a crutch. I have a friend who use to use it and had to continually up her dosage to get to sleep. Eventuallly it didnt work. After some research she found out my above statememt. She went off it and finally got some sleep 2 months later when her body went back to normal.
