Every life event I’ve ever had -has turned out for the better in the long run. “Things happen for a reason”, has gotten me thru several dark times in my life and a year out from each of them, I was better for it. I wish you good luck and know you will land like a cat on your feet. Take the severance and then file unemployment and find another job. I just wanted to update everyone, what I am having problems with is most of, if not all the places I am looking or applying at are Government, deal with the government, organizations with more than 100 people, etc. that will or require the vaccine. I do not feel that I should have to get the vaccine as I had already had covid in the spring. I just need to keep trusting God that he will lead me to my next job where he wants me to be at. Severance is low. You go back and tell them you will accept 1 week per year, which is standard. And they need to remove the provision about workers comp from the contract. They do that, you will gladly resign. My wife deals with this sort of crap all the time as a hiring/firing manager... I overhear the phone calls. The employees have a LOT of leeway to ask for whatever they want. The company will often just give whatever they ask, to get rid of them. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

Absolutely this. I was with a horrible agency for 1.6 years and they told me to resign with severance or they would let me go as Texas is an at-will employment state. I resigned and then filed for unemployment. I was honest about the severance I got and as soon as the severance ran out, I then got unemployment. I then found the agency I now work for and love. I wish you the best of luck. Sometimes things happen for a reason. I was in hell at my last agency at a high level position. Yeah now I make a lot less at my new agency, but I am happy. So my job was lead systems engineer. I had keys to the entire computing kingdom there. But no... I wouldn't do that. I worked until that last hour. Besides I started my new job 2 weeks earlier.

I was notified yesterday that I have to take the jab or lose my job. I am an independent contractor for a big Pharma company. I guess I am going job hunting! I wish Governor DeSantis would do what Governor Abbott did in Texas regarding the vax.

I really don't get how companies try to avoid paying unemployment. It's not a lot of money. Strikes me as petty HR people (is there any other kind?) being petty. Severance usually requires you to sign a form releasing the company from all other claims and waiving your right to sue them, which is reasonable and legal. The severance is basically a legal settlement, and many states view it as such. The idea that "resign with severance and no unemployment or be fired with no severance and get unemployment" is no firing you either way is absurd. It's coercive at best and illegal at worst. Get this exact offer in writing, and take it to an employment lawyer.

I'm gonna take a wild guess here, and bet that you neither own a business that has a payroll, nor do bookkeeping or accounting for a business. I do both of those things, and I'll tell you, something that is really noticeable is the difference between a small mom & pop business paying $7.00 per employee, and $384.00 per employee, for state unemployment tax. I have the cancelled checks to prove it. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים
