Apparently this is it. Oct 8 weekend. I've never done the fall shoot. Went to the Spring shoot 7 years in a row. 3 years after that I went but it rained out. Then I quit going, too far to travel and it kept raining out.

My cousin isn't letting me get out of this since it's the last one. So I'll be there camping, and get to see the night shoot I guess.

This has always been like Disneyland for me. Flame throwers, miniguns, helicopters, and stuff you can't see shoot most other places.

First time I saw Swiss Sig rifles in 2002, they had a Sig rep there with 2 551s on the table. I talked to them for a while and they let me mess around with those Swiss guns. I had to have one. They agreed it was bullshit I couldn't get one, and they weren't hiring either.

Shot everything they've ever offered just about. It's pricey but unless you know a guy who has one or get a SOT it's a normal guy's best option I'm aware of. I'd do 3-4 per year and save up for the next year.

One of my favorites was the HK 33. I didn't expect to like it much but it was smooth on F/A.

And the PKM won me over bigtime.

I'd always buy 1000 rounds of something there, and I felt like I lost or got ripped off if my surplus 1000 rounds of 5.56 was over 100 dollars. Like 109 one year and brass case. It would climb by 10-20 bucks every year. Boxes of FAL and G3 mags dirt cheap. I carried on about 5 FAL mags on the plane home one year in my ALICE pack and got to see the inside of TSA offices. Always come home with some boat flares for Fourth of July.

Some great people there, and old knowledge on whatever platform you like. Also, plenty of sleeveless mullets and endless Army canvas.

I've always wanted to go but never got around to it. I have 3 FA guns and would have loved to shoot them there. (My favorite is an HK-51 with an 8.9" barrel with older .308 ammo--HUGE muzzle flashes!).

Yes sir I've shot that shorty HK 51 there. Guy gave me gloves.

It's the type of place you'll never have enough money.

The firing line is something else. A slow walk to take it all in.

He did a good job with it. Back when I had a chance I didn't do that well, I was young though. The M14 was worse.

I remember the guy's face who owned it, I think. You see a lot of the same characters and some of them own multiple guns on the line for rent. Super nice guy.

Cant do that. Too many recoil pulses in a short time span. Cuz Im a light weight. But the Sig 552 with 30 round would be much more civil.. Big Grin

Many years ago we had a SIGforum shoot in New Hamphire. Several of the guys there brought their autos and we all had a try. I don't remember all the attendees, but we shot an AR, AK, Thompson and MP5. It really was a blast.

Mas Ayoob was there that day.

Wish I could remember more.

While I was stationed at Ft. Knox back in the mid-80s, my wife and I had the chance to attend a couple of the Knob Creek Machinegun Shoots - good times.

The first time my wife and I went to a pistol range was at Knob Creek, back in the fall of 85. We planned to go back to KY a couple of years ago, but our plans didn't work out. We both have good memories of our time in KY.

I’ll be up there for the entire shoot as well. My girls are coming with and excited to ride the UH-1 Huey heli. My oldest rode it with me a couple of years ago and loved it. Her first ride leaving the ground on anything was about that Huey. The aircraft they’ve been bringing to ride were actually in the battle portrayed on awe Were Soldiers. They give a helluva a nice ride for $100 but you have to get in line early as they only have so many slots available. Shoot me an email so maybe we can say hello at least. Highly recommend some Cuban food around Louisville. Hoping the pole barn has some good stuff for sale as usual. Like you said, I can’t believe it’s the last.

Excellent 10X-shooter. Yes the Huey ride is one my more memorable experiences. Been on a few Hueys. I want one for myself, but I digress.

Love to shake hands. I'll let you know before I leave as I'm not sure of the details yet. I'm kind of along for the ride, my cousins have a group going and I'm linking up with them. But would be cool to meet some forum folks too.

Doesn't seem fair that this is the last one. Like the torch needs to be passed to someone to keep the dream alive. But that easy to say from my seat. It's no small production that's for sure.

Was there one year when Actor Tom Green attended and filmed. Another shoot Gunny attended and filmed. I’ve never been bored at the shoot or in the pole barn. I remember one year a guy had a table full of M16 A1 uppers for $125 each and kept reloading the table with wagon full loads of them. I’ve been to shoots where the area is flooded and the lower ranges closed. Man, a lot of water has passed under the proverbial bridge there.

American Huey 369 is scheduled to attend again. For anyone not familiar, they are an organization dedicated to veteran remembrance using two UH-1 Huey helicopter. If I remember correctly, both were in the actual battle of IA Drang. They give rides to organization members and you can join and ride at the shoot given you are there early enough to secure a slot. They can only make so many flights. Membership/ride was $100 I believe the last time my daughter and I rode a few years ago. She was 10 and it was the first ride aboard anything leaving the ground aside from amusement parks. They give a great ride and the memory lasts a lifetime. Highly recommended.
