Totally echo that. Those guys do a great job, and if memory serves they have 2 Hueys taking rides at a time. It's worth the 100 bucks, just to support them. I've seen them at airshows or something else like that and rode too. Huey rides don't disappoint.

I made it once 21 years ago. Met my step-father and his cousin there. His cousin was a lifetime bachelor...introduced me to Les Baer and reloading. Got me started with bullseye powders...which I still use in his memory. He was the stereotypical "dirty old man" and I nearly idolized him in my late teens. He passed a couple years ago, and one of the greatest memories I have of him was the couple of days we spent camping nearby and attending the machine gun shoot. I think he went to nearly every one, and seemed to know every single vendor by first name. We also visited the Ft Knox museum while there, the tank museum and Patton exhibits were first rate. I highly recommend them. Why is this the last one? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The trouble with our Liberal friends...is not that they're ignorant, it's just that they know so much that isn't so." Here is the only explanation I've found. https://www.thefirearmblog.com...k-machine-gun-shoot/ NEWS ALERT Half a century – 50 years – Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot – every year – twice a year – well except for a flood and a pandemic! We’ve made many friends – some have become family. It has become a twice a year Reunion for many vendors and shooters. Your patronage has been much appreciated over the years. However, old age has crept up on us all. The Time Has Come – October 2021 will be the last Machine Gun Shoot. Hope to see you then! Our shop and range will continue to operate on our regular schedule. Come see us anytime. Kenny Sumner

As I understand it there is a lesser Machine Gun shoot in ~Oklahoma. Perhaps this one can/will grow and fill the void left by Knob Creek? I always wanted to go to Knob Creek. HK Ag

You and your son will have an experience that you will share together and never forget. You will leave that night never being more proud to live in America. I promise. Also, no matter how early you get there, no matter how tired you become, do NOT leave before watching the Night Shoot. Trust me on this. Just don't forget your hearing protection!

No matter where you are on the grounds or near it, when the mini gun goes off it's unmistakable. If you're close to it you can feel it in your chest.

Safe travels to all....post pics for those of us that can't go. Better yet...some video of the night shoot would be awesome! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The trouble with our Liberal friends...is not that they're ignorant, it's just that they know so much that isn't so." Sent you my cell #. I'm a local so should be there at open on Friday. Mike FYI... We are getting a bunch of rain so if they put you in the lower parking lot it may be "VERY" Soupy as in years past. If you have a 2 wheel drive car try to park up on top past the bridge, you'll thank me later. Still debating on what to wear.... I want to blend in. *** OR **** NRA Life Member

I’ll be there Friday and Saturday for the shoots. In years past, Friday was a good day to hit the dealers and pole barn without 10 tons of crowd around you. I should be carrying a grey 3 day size back pack around each day and will have some sort of 101st Airborne shirt, hat, or hat on my pack. If anyone spots me say hello!

I'll try to get some good pics and video. Wouldn't be Knob Creek if it didn't rain. Never camped there so this will be a first assuming we don't need a boat.

Anyone else stuck in the heavy traffic? I have been stuck for an hour. I’m not even to KY-44 yet.

The crowds were INSANE! I’ve been to 7-9 shoots since 2000 and never seen it the way it was today. The roads were backed up, from accounts I was told, as early as 4am. Staff said they arrived at 6am and it was already backed up. We arrived to a roadway stand still around 11 am. Took us about 45 minutes to arrive within a mile of the main driveway at the large sign. I hiked in with my pack nearly a mile to find a long line to pay admission. Took 20 minutes to pay. The crowd was unprecedented by noon. In the past, Friday was the slow day with plenty of room to take in the gun show. Not today. I passed on a Steyr AUG parts set with a OD stock, handle, bolt, carrier, op rods, trigger pack, butt plate and pin priced at $179. Big mistake. When I figured out that I should buy my wife a T-shirt for this last shoot it was around 2pm. The line was quite long. They ran out before I arrived for my turn. No more for the rest of the weekend. There were three places to buy some food and a drink. I waited in line nearly 40 minutes to buy a cold drink and that was the short line. I did find some deals on some neat gun room decorations to add to my display. I snagged a WW1 brass arty shell in fine shape stamped 1915 and of German or Austrian manufacture. I also snagged some mortar shell carriers for 60mm and 81mm as well as a used flash bang good only for trash or decor. Hope to arrive earlier tomorrow morning to ride the Huey and maybe meet Slippery Pete if I’m lucky. Saturdays are always busier and I can’t imagine it being more packed than today.
