to a Motorola G7 play ,android.

turns out that I am not too old to learn stuff.
that's a relief.

Had deplorable service from a.t.t. , well it turns out that they showed me a map of tiny town , and they said that they were surprised that I held on to it for three years.
only 1 1/2 to 2 bars of service for my area .
Roll Eyes

every time the line got busy , I would be the one getting dropped Mad

went to U.S. cellular ,
much happier with the quality of service , the salesperson was very good, ( very patient )
would recommend them .

She made a couple of mistakes so I had to drive back over , she gave me 2 months of unlimited data? to compensate me for my trouble, ( that seemed nice)

my brother sent me a case to put on it,
I got me one of them there fancy schmancy apps , for the weather the power ball , so I guess I am "cool " now
Smile

set me up another google account
guess I need to get a smallish spiral notebook, and a file folder to keep all the passwords in
(p.i.t.a.).

I like to use a stylus as my ogre fingers tend to get in the way .

what else do I need to know ?

If you don't feed the squirrel in the portable recharging pack, it will die and won't charge correctly. Cool

Seriously, congrats on the upgrade. Every time I upgrade I lament it for a few days, then realize all the cool new things it'll do.

about that ,
for the first three days , that battery was depleting very rapidly , had to plug it in every 8-10 hours Eek

turns out that when you open stuff up, you have to go back and close it prior to setting the phone down or it drains the power like a race horse on furosomide

Just FYI: You realize, I hope, that that's not your daddy's Motorola, right? Google acquired Motorola mobility, then sold it to Lenovo, a Chinese company, years ago. (That was one of the reasons I walked away from Alphabet/Google/Android. I'll never forgive Google for doing that.)

Time to move further into the 21st century, bendable. Install an encrypted digital keyring on your shiny new phone and keep all that stuff in that. (I'll let others make recommendations.)

Though I'd be remiss if I didn't mention another reason I dumped Android was I no longer trusted it enough to keep my digital keyring on it. Plenty others do, though.

It's not unusual for a new phone, or a phone that's just been updated (OS), to go through battery at an accelerated rate.

What kind of cellular signal strengths are you getting now? If they're really low, bobbling around one bar, that will lead to increased consumption, too.

You shouldn't have to force-close apps. I usually don't on my iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. Rarely did it on my Android devices, when we had those, either.

If you're not using any Bluetooth accessories or connectivity: Turn off Bluetooth. If you're not using WiFi: Turn off WiFi. There are other optimizations, such as turning off location services. You can also just turn off the GPS.

Android used to have a horrible problem: If one or another of its internal databases became corrupted (no longer recall which one), and that happened fairly regularly, the verkakte things would beat the ever-lovin' daylights out of Google's servers trying to sync with them--over and over and over and over and over and over and... The only cure was a serious PITA. Then it would be good again. For a while. Then you'd notice the phone in your pocket was quite warm, look at the battery, check what apps and services were sucking it all down, and find it was doing it again.

Try b-folders, runs on almost everything but IOS and allows cross-device database synchronization.

If you have a Kindle you can download the app and you'll have your books with you at all times. If you have Amazon Prime download the music and video apps. Same goes for Netflix. You should already have the Google Play app where there are hundreds of fun and useful apps to choose from.

I don't know about Bendable, but I have a color TV (with a CRT, yet) and a landline and a flip phone (which is OFF unless I'm making a call).

We are twins, except my kids bought me and the misses a LED TV. I only use my flip phone for long distance calls but carry in "off" when I'm out.

Your phone knows where you are, all the time. It knows what you look at on youtube. It knows all your interests. Kinda nosey. The good thing is you can still make calls. Click on Google Maps, click on the microphone and speak your address. Click on satallite view. You can see your property. Way cool. Read Sig Forum, watch shooting videos, learn cool stuff. But, when you are driving a car...drive the car. My friend Joe just got his 1st smart phone. He is 80 years old. He even has a facebook account.

I don't use a spiral notebook for passwords, that is not a secure way to protect your info. I use a free app called 1password, you can thank me later.

Welcome to the 21st century!

Ironic, now that flip phones are being released again, as bendable touch displays are making them possible.
