Nice catch.

First, I am not defending the guy. However ...
Many women are attracted to power (and wealth.)

Certainly not all; but many are thusly so attracted. Let’s not fool ourselves about sexual attraction and the realities of our nature.

Just watch the new bio pic on Shaquille O’Neil (Objectified). Girls didn’t go near him until he was famous/On the cover of Sports Illustrated.

You're absolutely correct and I've been around long enough to know how things often work. This schmuck's letter to Penthouse is superior level Douchbagery. "Hey everybody, I've banged lots of women...let's move on." So you(Bill O'Neill) copulating somehow negates the actual assaults of others? Al Franken is on film being an asshole 11 years ago. This is not a decades old indiscretion. Harvey and Spacey didn't commit indiscretions, they committed crimes.

He describes two out of 50.

How do we know anything about the rest of them?

You're right in that we don't. We don't actually know for sure that he was in a position of power over the other two either. What we do know for sure is a gentleman doesn't kiss an tell. So...

Strictly speaking, I am being unfair. But if a guy sits there and tells the world about the women he's slept with, and only mentions two, wouldn't you him to mention the two that stick out in his mind the most?

Ben Shapiro weighs in Big Grin :

CRAZIEST FACEBOOK POST EVER: Democrat Ohio Supreme Court Judge Defends Al Franken By Talking About Shtupping 50 'Very Attractive Females'
Ben Shapiro

These days, politicians all over the political spectrum wake up each morning in dread that they will be hit with sexual harassment or abuse allegations. One of those politicians is clearly Bill O’Neill, Ohio Supreme Court justice and Democratic gubernatorial candidate, a self-proclaimed “Father. Veteran. Nurse. Ohio Supreme Court Justice. Candidate for Ohio Governor.”

In order to forestall any allegations against him, O’Neill launched an epic pre-emptive strike on Facebook:

He later edited the post to make it clearer that his first love was not actually Senator Bob Taft, and that he had not made passionate love to Taft in the hayloft of a barn in Gallipolis. He also altered the post to get rid of the references to Peter Lewis and Progressive Insurance in Cleveland — it was too obvious, apparently, that he might have been shtupping Flo or something.

For those who don’t know politics, this is not a smart way to prevent allegations of sexual abuse and harassment. But it does demonstrate that a lot of heretofore liberals are running scared of the “national feeding frenzy about sexual indiscretions decades ago.”

So what are we to conclude? That he is no gentleman, but we have no idea about the other 48, or whether he was in a position of power over the other two.

The conduct occurred over a 50 year period. Maybe they were all professional women, for all we know.

Maybe he's a really nice guy. Maybe I'd like to have a beer with him and hang out. But probably not. Probably I'd pretty soon pour the beer over his head.

(Sorry, I seem to be in a violent mood today. And I'm not a violent man. Generally.)

The only thing to conclude is what I implied at the bottom of pg 9. He's a pompous moron. When I said, "Nice Catch" in reply to Il Cattivo's post it was in the spirit of recognizing how stupid he was in his examples. What does he seem to be stating? I have been with 50 women over 50 years and two of which were secretaries or assistants and that turned out fine so let's get back to business.

I'd wager that a lot of us at some time or another have been in a position of power and not abused it. So what? His statement is ludicrous and irrelevant.

All I have pointed out is that this statement is unsupported by the information given.

I was friends in college and the Navy with a fellow who probably had that kind of relationship with 50 women in the 4 or 5 years. He was in no position of power over any of them, and at least those that I met had no complaints of abuse or mistreatment of any kind. Actually, they seemed kind of pleased. I never saw anything like it, the appeal this guy had with women.

I don’t think he made public statements about it, nor has he run for office that I know of.

Sure. I took Il Cattivo's post as more tongue and cheek than anything. There is no evidence whatsoever that this guy is guilty of anything except being disrespectful to at least two women by making public statements about them. And truthfully there may not even be evidence of that. I've never been one to engage in locker room talk, but I've seen lots who have. Perhaps in this post "It depends on what the meaning of the word is is" age, posting conquests on facebook is no big deal.

Was his name Podrick Payne?

As for the broader issue, this is becoming a little like the French Revolution, but with fewer guillotines.
