I awoke to this on my back patio this morning. I’m thinking raccoon vs bullfrog due to the paw prints but have never heard of a raccoon killing and eating large frogs. The closest water source to me is over 100yds away, so he would have had to bring it into the yard from there. My yard is also fenced in with 6’ white panels. Oh the mystery Big Grin

Poor Jeremiah

I think the evidence is clear on what happened. WHO on the other hand is a different question.

You might submit paw prints and swab the deceased for DNA samples. I do commend your crime scene photographs. They should be submitted as well as evidence. Has the coroner been notified?

I'm kind of torn between racoon tracks and skunk tracks. Both eat frogs and both can climb 6' fences.

At least the raccoon was thoughtful enough to bring it up and eat(more like mutilate) it on your patio cushions. Big Grin

No bullfrogs in this neck of the woods, but we have tree frogs around here that emit a toxic (or at least terrible tasting) substance from their skin when threatened. Do bullfrogs do the same thing? If so, I'd think it'd be enough to keep even the meanest predators at bay as my dog won't even go near the things after one taste.

I'd guess it was a 'coon, but it could be a skunk. I think 'coons are generally more common though.

People eat bullfrogs, so I don't think they are toxic or noxious like some frogs.

You cant trust an animal who wears a mask. I often see my Chipmunks stalk, catch and eat grasshoppers. That was new animal behavior news for me.

I'm going with Racoon.
If it smells bad around your furniture, then I'm going with Skunk.

Going with a skunk.

Coon tracks would have the fingers looking more attached to the rest of the foot
