2017 wasn't the best year for me. Got rejected from 2 police departments, rejected from 2 graduate school programs. Life moves on and I'm working towards making 2018 a better year than 2017 was.

But Sig Forum has been pretty damn awesome to me. Lots of great KARMAs going around and figure it's time for me to give back.

This is going to be 2 KARMAs. First winner I pick will get his/her choice and the runner up will get the other coin. I bought 3 of each when this was put together. Still have all 6 of my coins and remember reading some members missed out on it for one reason or another.

Rules:

-tell us something positive that happened to you in 2017
-minimum 1000 posts or member for at least 5 years
-must not currently have one of these coins, some members missed out
-coin is for you, no entries for other people
-have e-mail in profile. If you do not, I'll just choose another winner
-respond to winning e-mail within 48 hours
-winners will be picked on January 1, 2018

Very unlucky number 1, as I don't qualify, but very cool Karma. I hope 2018 turns out better for you.

Please count me in. I kept meaning to get one when they were available but always kept putting it off for other financial priorities. So, thanks for the chance.
My positive for 2017 is my HS freshman daughter got 1280 on her PSAT. 98th percentile.

Well, 2017 started off kind of ordinary but it ended up with a new position at work that brought the family back to Texas to be around the rest of our extended family for the first time in 4.5 years, and for that, I’m very thankful.

Very generous karma, as you note I was pretty removed for a while and missed these when they were produced, to my chagrin.

Please enter me, I didn't get in on the buy at the time.

Well, positives for 2017. I retired June 30th after 47 years in ten GM dealerships, mainly parts departments but for awhile in the 80's I did double duty as parts and service manager. And in September the second grandchild was born. Now just settling in to part time work and getting things caught up around home.

Please include me, thank you.
I’ve actually got 2 good things.
#1 My mom had a brain tumor. It was operable and benign. She had 2 surgeries and is now ok.
#2 my best friend who had cancer and surgery 2 yrs ago just had her annual checkup and everything is ok.

Great karma, please count me in. The great thing that happened this year was a swinging of the pendulum back to the other side. Hoping the winning continues for many more. Thanks!

Positives - good question. I'd say the best is I spent more time than ever with my wife and son. I've worked a lot of hours (and still do) plus traveled extensively for many years. We figured out how they could travel with me more and I made more time at home for them.

My positive for the year: retired after over 30 years of government service. I'm done.

Please add me. I missed out on the initial buy.

My good thing for 2017 was the birth of my second grandson Eli.

Thanks for the chance. A positive change was the ability to transfer locations for work. So now, instead of being an hour away I’m only 2 miles or about five minutes depending on the weather. This allows me to attend my children’s school activities, parent teacher conferences and be home in time for dinner. Merry Christmas and best of luck in 2018! I was going to purchase but didn’t get in on the special order so I qualify there as well. Thanks!

Outstanding karma, Edmond! Please count me in!

  • Something positive that happened to me in 2017: I got a conditional use permit from the Bannock County zoning board that allows me to have more than six adult pigs on my acreage. It wasn't easy to get -- turns out that there are a lot of folks out there that have downright Islamic attitudes toward pigs. So I'm pretty happy to have achieved that small victory against what I consider to be TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT.

  • Minimum 1,000 posts and member at least 5 years: Yes to both criteria

  • Must not curently have one of these coins: I do not have a Sig Forum coin, but I sure would like to have one!

  • Coin for me, not for others: Yes, for me only!

  • Have e-mail in profile: Yes, it's there!

  • Respond within 48 hours: Try me! I'll respond!

    Thanks again for the opportunity!

    Thanks,

    Sap

Hang tough! Those departments don’t know what they missed!

Early spring, happened to find a 95% blockage before it killed me.... would have been the widow maker had I suffered an attack!

Please count me in. Thank You!

I'd love a chance for one of the coins.

One of the greatest things that happened this year was just a gradual thing I can recognize looking back on 2017 between my wife and me; we opened up a lot with each other this year, worked hard on bettering ourselves and each other, and our marriage has improved so much in just one year. On January 3rd, it'll be our 9th wedding anniversary. It's been amazing, and it's kind of hard to believe how far a little more effort has taken us.

May 2018 treat us all as well as we deserve!

Excellent karma, Edmond. Thank you and best wishes to you and your family for a fine 2018.

I can readily sympathize...this year has been in some ways a struggle. New boss with a radically different management style, longer commute, the deaths of several family members...

Yet amidst this there was a singular bittersweet moment. As I mentioned a couple months ago, my son's previous cubmaster in Cub Scouting lost his life tragically, and through a seemingly accidental sequence of events, I found myself going from involved parent to the new cubmaster. There's been a huge amount of training and getting up to speed I've been working to master, but to see the excitement of the boys, the gratitude of the parents for a continuing Scout program at the grade school, and finding myself becoming much more involved in the community has made it all worthwhile.

Thanks again for the opportunity, sir. God bless!

Thank you for this generous karma.
Retired to Montana after 42 years of working. This has been an exciting new adventure for a guy who spent the almost all his life in Georgia.
