Hello!

In 2017, our youngest daughter & her son (our third grandson) moved back to the community where our other child & her two kiddos live, putting us all together again. Our early 2017 saw them all living far away. We are ending the rough year close once again!

Merry Christmas, and thank you for the kindness!

Jim

Thanks for the Karma. My 79 year old mother was able to come all the way across the country to spend Christmas with my family.

Thank you for the opportunity. We couldn't afford to order one when they came up, but I just started a new job that will help us out financially. Plus, we added a sweet little rescue kitten to the family.

Please count me in for your generous karma.

The good thing that happened to me was that my cat Tabitha picked me when I went looking for an animal to rescue. My ex and I had gone to 6 or 7 different places and Tabitha was hands down the most affectionate and insistent of my attention. Fast forward 10 months and she sleeps in the V created by my legs (I sleep on my back) every night.

Thanks for the chance and good luck to all.

Great karma, please include me. I don’t have a coin.

I made the decision to remove alcohol from my life in 2017. I’m fact, Christmas Eve was the six month mark without a drink, and I’ve never felt better.

Thanks for the chance.

First the positive, we have had some financial challenges the last several years but we have been able to ride them out and Mrs. Pal will retire in June! My retirement remains up in the air, depends on the sale of my business.

I don't have the post count but do have the time in. I don't post alot but check the forum at least once a day. I've gotten alot of good advice on this forum and it has saved me quite abit of cash( thanks again Brad!)

I hope the change of year changes your life for the better. Happy New Year!

Congrats rbert0005 on the win where the results are made up and the Karmanator doesn't matter.

Something positive that happened to me in 2017: After 6 months in the new job which I went to despite a 10% cut in pay because it was much closer to home, I realized my boss was an a-hole and we didn't even have any honeymoon period. I did what I never advise anyone: resign without another job waiting.

I realized I had interviewed with this person in two other different companies and was not hired. I remember the prior rejections also stung.

I also realized how my prior rejections were a blessing in disguise. My career would have been different if I had been accepted either of the two previous times and it wouldn't have been for the better.

In May, I realized I had enough in savings to not have to work indefinitely even without taking any pension or social security until I'm 65 which is 5 years from now. Before I added all my money, I had thought I was going to have to work until the day I die.

If it wasn't for this bad boss, I wouldn't have "retired" at age 59 instead. Sure I can still work but why? With what I have now and if I manage my plan until age 65, I end up with what I consider stupid money for the rest of my life. I don't need to die rich so no point in working to add to that now.

So that's my blessing in 2017. Truly. I know how I felt each time I was disappointed in those job rejections and realizing I was in a job with a sucky boss. But I also now have the hindsight that those disappointments kept me from worst things.

I share that with you to let you know that often, closed doors are a blessing in disguise. No need to include me as I have a couple of those coins. Be blessed in 2018.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
