Sounds like MGM got religion! "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

The biggest criticism I have isn't about 'solving' the case - it's about simple little things like the official timeline that they can't seem to settle on. This isn't a question of great complexity - they can't seem to agree on the *basics* of the crime, such as when Campos was fired on (before or after he opened up on the crowd). If they are so clumsy and inept with the simple things, I have no faith they can handle the truly complex issues (such as motives, any help he may or not have received, etc). It's like taking your vehicle in to get the engine fixed and they can't even open the hood. . . Fear God and Dread Nought Admiral of the Fleet Sir Jacky Fisher

Dinner reservation for one I don't see how this guy made a living off of gambling. The saying "the house always wins" is actually true. I'm not a gambler at all but the last time I was in Vegas for a wedding I had some time to kill, so I got ten dollars in quarters and spent the next hour or so turning it into three dollars at a slot. I thought nine bucks for an hour and a half entertainment (two bucks tip for the Miller) was pretty good.

Oh stewardess, I speak jive. |
Many, many people (thousands or more) make a living playing regular (non Video) Poker, a game played against other people in which the odds are not slanted toward the house, at all, but instead where the house just take a cut/rake of every hand or game/tournament. It's the only game of skill that isn't rigged against you, and unlike all the others.

The issue is not 'solving' or providing answers to every single question. The issue is putting out incorrect information multiple times. Two weeks later and we still don't have a definite timeline. Thousands of cameras, videos, witnesses, time stamped phone calls to 911 - but still no definitive timeline. I'm sorry, but that is completely unacceptable and incompetent. If you can't nail down a timeline, then come out and say it's beyond your ability rather than putting out bad information over and over. A critical witness/involved person - the security guard is being whisked around and 'protected' by the mob/union? WTH? If he needs protection he needs to be in protective custody. I get the fact that all crimes are not solved, yada, yada, yada - but a timeline in this case? Can't be done? Can't get answers to basic questions after 2 weeks? I'm sorry, but that's unacceptable and incompetent. “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

Absolutely correct. This constant feeling that you have to keep feeding the beast is nonsense. All it does is provide fuel to all the Nostradumbasses out there. “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

There are two others. Craps betting "don't pass" allows you to bet with the house advantage. Heads-up Chemin de Fer (Baccarat) where a player is the bank and the others at the table are playing against the bank. In this style the house takes a croupier's fee on each hand. It is also the only game with even (i.e., 50:50) odds if you do not bet on the possibility of a tie. Over time, the typical croupier's fee makes the payout about 49:49 with the 2% going to the casino, so you do loose over time, but not because the odds are stacked against the play of each hand. My statistics and probability courses in high school and college were all taught by people intent on keeping students from developing a gambling problem. All we ever did was study casino games! Might that be because casino games are among the few instances where statistics and probability can be counted on reliably? Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. The situation w Jesus Campos continues to seem weird. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017...ion-leader-says.html The Mandalay Bay security guard who disappeared last week moments before he was scheduled to break his silence in television interviews has not been seen since he went to a walk-in health clinic, his union president said. David Hickey of the Security, Police, and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA) told reporters Friday that he got a text the night before saying Jesus Campos was taken to a UMC Quick Care facility, though he did not specify where or whom the text came from. A spokesperson at the UMC Quick Care, which has eight locations throughout the Las Vegas area, told Fox News on Monday that they had "heard nothing" about Campos visiting them. Multiple requests from Fox News for SPFPA to comment on the matter were not returned Monday. Hickey said he was meeting with MGM officials Thursday afternoon in the hours before Campos’ scheduled television appearances, including one with Fox News. Hickey said Campos had requested to go public and wanted to tell his story and move on from the Oct. 1 shooting investigation Campos was last photographed in public on Oct. 10, accepting an “SPFPA Hero Award” for bravery in the line of duty, while dining with Hickey and others at a high-end Vegas steakhouse. Hickey has said that before he vanished, Campus was looking forward to telling his side of the story. "Right now I'm just concerned where my member is, and what his condition is. It's highly unusual,” Hickey said Friday. “I'm hoping everything is OK with him and I'm sure MGM or the union will let (media) know when we hear something," he said. ****************** There is a private security guard at the house that is reportedly where Campos lives. If you take the latest time line as truth, that means that Campos and the maintenance guy stayed in the hall from 1005 until 1017 when the police got to them. Campos and the maintenance guy had initially moved position in the hallway during lulls in the firing. A bit surprising that while Paddock was firing at the crowd and periodically reloading, that Campos and the maintenance guy didn't leave the floor.
