I used to be a electronic tech for Cargill. I worked in the export grain division. We installed temp monitors on the huge pillow bearings that drove the conveyors that moved the grain under the huge grain towers.
If the bearings started to seize up and generate heat the monitor would send a control signal to stop the conveyor before a explosion could occur.

These conveyors were located in tunnels. Much of the installation work had to be done in the overnight hours when grain movement was at a minimum. These tunnels were full of rats. Big rats. I could go on about rat stories for hours.

Recall that scene in Rambo First Blood when he was going through that mining shaft and he came to a spot where it opened up into a small pool and the rats were everywhere. He was knocking them off his back and neck?
Been there.

I wonder if bucket traps would work in that environment.

Brings a whole new meaning to “get back to my rat killin’”.

Just another day in paradise.

Good Stuff!! What rifle and load are you shooting? I suspect having a camera/iPhone mounted, the laser makes it much easier.

Thanks for posting.

CZ452FS with CB longs. They don't cycle well in it, but CCI quiet bullets (700fps) do very well.

I pulled the NV scope and put the QR laser/light/camera rig on it.

I also have a Ruger 77/22 with the same rig on it, but with the NV, illuminator, laser and green flashlight, it is topping 10lbs to haul around. It has a complicated rail mount that makes the scope and laser useless at close distance.

I am picking up a pair of Ruger American Rimfires specifically rigged out for rat blasting. The CZ only has 5 round magazines and is chokes on the CB Longs.

We are going to get 25 round mags and a loader for the Rugers. I figure a hundred rounds apiece will hold us in the game for a good long time.

I also have a weaver mount that holds a cell phone that I was livestreaming the action with on my FB page.

Watching that, I was thinking that one of the old Remington 572 Fieldmaster pump .22 rifles would make a dandy set-up as a rat blaster. Feeds shorts, longs and LR. They hold 22 of the .22 short cartridges in the tube magazine.
