Maybe a little harsh. The first several replies to the OP were confidently stated, and wrong. I recognized that there was some correct info stated; I just didn't feel like going to the trouble of quantifying "these people were wrong and these people were right". And, I wanted to make the point that is no requirement of "knowingly" selling to a resident of a different state.

I used to buy and sell a lot private party (in Florida) I required them to have a carry permit. Most people on the gun forums and gun trader groups already have a Florida carry permit. Never had an issued that way. Nowadays I just keep everything and just grow the collection. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

If I sell private party I will get a drivers license (Florida) and write a bill of sale. I won’t require a ccw as I feel that would be a bit hypocritical since I don’t have one. I may just see what Shooters World offers me to avoid the hassle. These go to eleven.

Just a note on CCW - Even if you live in a 'Constitutional Carry' State it is still worth getting your CCW Permit, which you'll need for reciprocity in other states where your permit is honored. Further there are sometimes weird exclusions/prohibited areas where you cannot carry without a CCW permit. As an example, even though Maine has Constitutional Carry you cannot carry concealed in Arcadia National Park or any State Park without a CCW Permit. NH has had Constitutional Carry since 2017 and next month I will be renewing my CCW Permit (NH Pistol/Revolver License) for the 2nd time since that law was passed...NH has reciprocity w/ Florida! ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! That's smart, either way the only reason for CCW would be to eliminate the don't want to sell to a felon potential as part of the transaction. Not sure if SW does transfers for private sales, you'd have to ask but I'm sure someone in that area will. I find locating private FFL's in your area easy by using Gun Broker, just click on their FFL list, put in your zip and bob's yer uncle.. https://www.gunbroker.com/ffl/index

I may get my Florida permit. I just haven't gotten around to it. I don't travel much with guns. Usually I'm going to Massachusetts or out of the country. So I haven't had an immediate need. But it is on my list. Been here almost a year now so time to get my shit in gear. These go to eleven.

Without a carry permit, there is a minimum three business day waiting period if you buy a firearm from a dealer*. If you have a permit, the waiting period is eliminated. * "Three days? I might not be mad any more." -- Homer J. Simpson הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I believe the state attorney general of Florida has just recently stated the 3 day wait is unconstitutional so we may be seeing that portion of gun purchase transaction go the way of the dodo. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

Iirc, the federal gun free school zone law provides a licensee may possess a firearm inside the zone if the state law allows it. That was before all the Constitutional carry laws were passed. I regularly carried in my kids' schools under that exception. Does Constitutional carry get that exception?

Interesting. In Florida, I’ve thought the gun free school zones were the areas outside of the school’s property and designated as such. For example and I’m making this up because I’m too lazy this morning to look it up, but no guns within 1,500’ of a school which would make driving with a firearm in the car down the road next to a school illegal. I don’t believe having a CWL in Florida allows you to bring firearms onto school property let alone into school buildings. Of course, I could be wrong as it’s been 15 years since I looked the Florida Statutes closely when my church started a preschool. As I recall, weapons of any sort were automatically disallowed unless specifically approved by the school board or whatever governing authority. For example, we had to allow for knives in the kitchen.

Yeah, I'm too lazy to refresh on the details here since I have no kids or grandkids in Utah schools. Back in the day, the federal law would make it illegal to even drive past the school with a firearm. A state could allow firearms within the school premises with a ccw permit if they passed such a law. The federal law though only allowed it for the state one resided in. Thus no reciprocity or non-resident permits counted if one was in another state. So each state has its own laws wrt guns in school zones. Utah, fully allowed it. Another benefit in UT of having a ccw permit was no background check to buy a gun from a dealer, saving a few $.

^^ Pretty sure 'Non-Resident Permits' are covered/exempted unless the state has a specific provision prohibiting such.
