Most probably the "Asian" man who was shot was either a Pakistani or a Bangladeshi. Most Islamist Asians in the UK are either of Pakistani or Bangladeshi origin. Yeah there are a few Indian muslims who have immigrated to the UK, but, their numbers are very small. Most Asians who are muslim trouble causers in the UK are of Pakistani or Bangladeshi background.

Keep in mind that the country with the largest Muslim population is Indonesia, with Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh being #2, #3, and #4, respectively.

Those four countries alone make up ~43% of the world's Muslim population.

So there are a large number of non-Middle-Eastern Asian Muslims.

So you're saying it's highly unlikely for him to have been from India, the country where they have around 180 million Muslims (or roughly 11% of the world's Muslim population)?

There are a LOT of Asian muslims. Im betting he shouted the typical aloha snackbar line during the attack, too. . .

Had this happened in the U.S., there would be more cops than bystanders, and they would mostly look liked they just walked off the set of the latest Navy SEAL movie and brought the weapons with them.

You mean they would look like this? Big Grin

I thought this was Wednesday. Looks like casual Friday over there for their police. What's with the attire? From sweatshirts to t-shirts.

Low key.

Might not be 'police', in spite of the blazon.

Great. Fanny Bandit is running his suck on Fox News now. I guess they bring in Princess whenever they need someone who's completely full of shit and can talk non-stop, saying absolutely nothing of any value.

Just go back to airing Sky coverage. Damn. Jesus, lady. Take a vacation to Fire Island or something, huh?

Or more than likely they just threw their gear over what ever they were wearing. You will see that on sudden SWAT call outs in the US too.

That's certainly one possibility... some sort of counter-terrorism military unit.

Another possibility is that they were off-duty and/or plainclothes SWAT team members who got the call-out and responded, donning their tactical gear over their street clothes in the process. You'll see that in large incidents in the US too, like the San Bernadino attack:

No. You can see other photos from that string where the red cyclist is walking around near the car.

Appears to be the same guy. Ran over folks on the bridge. Crashed about a block away. Got out of the car and ran around with a knife, stabbing at least one more person in the process. Finally shot by police near Parliament.

Thanks, from reading the story, it sounded like two different incidents.

Also, in concurrence with some of the other posters, "Asian" in the US seems to imply East Asian (China, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese) whereas in European coverage, "Asian" is often used for Indians/Bangladesh/Pakistanis. In other words "our Asians ain't their Asians." Not sure if/how European news agencies distinguish between the chopstick culture Asians and the Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistanis.
