This report struck me as being fairly well balanced, and probably better than many U.S. legacy news agencies would produce. Things are heating up in the Arctic Circle, and I don't mean Climate Change. Those Mickey Mouse boots might be needed again. If it came to non-nuclear blows in the arctic, Russia would lose badly- if their inability to dominate in Ukraine is any indication. 2nd most powerful military in the world? I don’t think so at this point. We've been fighting in the desert for the last 30+ years. Fighting in and preparing to fight in the jungle for the 30 years prior. We're probably not at the topic of our game either, despite what a few specialized units train for. | |||

We've had an infantry brigade in interior Alaska (Ft Wainwright, next to Fairbanks) for a long time, I was stationed there 1968-70. There's another brigade down in Anchorage at Ft Richardson. | |||
