I gritted my teeth and began the dreary task of cleaning them out.

It says 999, but I suspect that’s as high as the counter goes.

This eludes me. I scan through my two most active accounts daily, delete anything I've read or am not interested in, mark the spam for the filter, empty the trash when it occurs to me.

I rarely have more than a half dozen emails in my Yahoo address (usually tracking stuff I've ordered but haven't received yet) and 3 or 4 in my private account.

Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

I manage my work life through an arrangement of emails for tasks in process, needed, etc.

My personal email is under 25.

I greatly look forward to the latter being the only email which I have to engage.

Mine runs about 40 a day. Mostly from businesses I bought something from. Spam is about the same.

Four Thousand, six Hundred, and ninety-six. That's in my mainly-used INBOX. My long-held historical INBOX has 899. I am not going to try to add up those in other folders, but it has to be at least as many. I have maybe twenty other INBOXes on various servers/providers that I use and check rarely.

When I failed in my attempt to convert a Maildir mail store to Cyrus, I had maybe 20K messages in my INBOX. I was an early adopter of e-mail, some time in the early 80's I think, back in the Usenet/UUCP days. My long-time personal domain/address dates back to 1995, but I had several *.com, *.edu, *.arpa, and *.mil addresses long before then. And, yes, I delete far many more than I save.

Finished. I found about a dozen emails worth saving. Moved each of those to an appropriate box.

1472 in my inbox, for one of my accounts. the new account only has 29 in the inbox. Thos numbers don't reflect all of the thousands of saved emails in other folders (bills, receipts, work, guns, etc)

Personal, around 20
Work, about the same.

I'm a habitual folder-er. My inbox, at work, is my to-do list. Try to keep it pared down.
My coworker, on the other hand, had something like 19k in his, with over 4-5k unread. But, we get a lot of automated messages, and I have a large list of rules to manage the benign stuff.
