Nature's End. Strieber & Kunetka. Not that I believe in any of that climate change crap. Just a good story. They also wrote War Day.

I'm going to ask for forgiveness from Para for posting this, but I thought it was timely. Para, if you want to remove, please do. I'd recommend The Turner Diaries by Andrew McDonald aka William Pierce WARNING/CAVEAT: This is a very racist, supremacist and anti-Semitic book. Be forewarned. My interest in this "book" was peaked when I was researching the Oklahoma Bombing maybe 10 years ago or so, and I was able to find a copy online, all-be-it from a rather odd website. I was wondering why the press, stories, Wikipedia etc. all mentioned a book that was found with McVeigh, why did that matter? What was in this book that was so condemning? Before continuing, I want to state that I'm not condoning supremacy, Nazi-ism/national socialism or any of those principles. I was, in fact, just curious. After reading, I can tell you that my heart was pounding during the last few chapters. It was frightening how a "group of small fanatics" thought the ends justified the means. Use of WMD's and ISIS-type tactics, even more horrifying than the nazis, were downright frightening. However, the first part of the book was intriguing to say the least. It was not dis-similar from today's political environment, although taken to extremes. Political correctness gone awry (aka Evergreen college and "anti-fa"s). Understand that if you read this "book" (if you can find it), there is a lot of radical ideas and terms/verbiage, but it is an interesting look at a "future" for how things could be in the US. /tin-foil hat on I wonder if I'm on some sort of "secret government watch list" after downloading the "book" from a rather controversial site... /tin-foil hat off James ---------------------------- "Voldemorte himself created his worst enemy, just as tyrants everywhere do! Have you any idea how much tyrants fear the people they oppress? All of them realize that, one day, amongst their many victims, there is sure to be one who rises against them and strikes back!" man, I've read a lot of the books posted. Yeah, even Level 7. I'll add a book that falls right on the cusp of a nation in a state of change. Matt Bracken's Enemies Foreign and Domestic, as well as the two follow on books. I have my own style of humor. I call it Snarkasm.

I've never heard of this until now, and after reading the summery, I will be honest, it sounds awful, but i think i want to read it. Unlike some people, I think you SHOULD read things you disagree with. I've read Mein Kampf, and Marx's works as well, and I think they are total bullshit... but at least i read them and then formed my opinion that they were bullshit. I'll have to find a copy to read (and then most likely burn.) Strive to live your life so when you wake up in the morning and your feet hit the floor, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up."

And... to contribute... For "current" dystopian fiction... I like 1984, or "The Road" "The Road" is one of my favorite books, although upon completion i hurled it across the room... My favorite dystopian fiction, is futuristic though. One of the best I have read recently, is the Red Rising trilogy. It is meant as a "teen" book, but it is really, really good. If you haven't' read it, you should. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Rising Strive to live your life so when you wake up in the morning and your feet hit the floor, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up."

James in Denver – if you are interested in that type of story there are much better books than The Turner Diaries. The novels of Matthew Bracken have already been mentioned and I would also add People’s Republic by Kurt Schlichter to that list.

Worst part of this one is it will, but then you'll get to "the speech" near but not at the end when you're too invested to stop, but are trying to figure out how far to FF..... It's about 70 pages. Not words, not sentences, PAGES! You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

Wow. Page 5 and I'm the first to mention Steven King's The Stand? Surprising. "America is at that awkward stage.
