Could you have had a seizure?
4 years ago my wife suffered a low blood sugar seizure and banged her head pretty good.

Glad you're OK. Head injuries are a very big deal. When I was in high school my best friend was running up the steps to school one morning with his hands in his pockets, tripped, and fell very hard. and hit his head on the cement. He woke up in the hospital and couldn't remember anything about it. He still doesn't to this day.

Darth, glad you'll be ok!

Be sure to follow the doc's orders for recovery. Probably reduce or avoid all screen time. Definitely turn it off if you get headaches. Be cautious not to do anything which could result in another fall or impact (like sports).

Expect recovery to take several months. I had a moderate concussion January 2025, and it took a solid 3 months to feel normal. Bright light, tv, or loud sounds were quite annoying. I had a definite name finding problem which has still not quite gotten back to normal.

^^^^^^^^that’s the advice I was given by the trauma team. They ruled out diabetes or other seizures. Don’t know what they did to test all of that. Most of the initial diagnosis happened while I was unconscious. Last thing I remember was getting out of my truck at a project I’m managing. Then waking up in the hospital with one of my friends’ face in my face. Like changing the channel on TV. Have to say, my confidence is rattled. Thanks for prayers and well wishes.

Parenthetically, they did find a heartbeat anomaly that they want to follow up on. Resting heart rate is 59. Blood pressure is excellent.

The Trauma team does a good job of treating you in the immediate after the event and doing a cursory evaluation for the etiology. Further detailed evaluation is normally left to experts in the medical fields which could lead to such an event. So please get in with a Cardiologist to look for arrhythmias and a Neurologist to look for neurological causes.

I did a number of these types of evals in my career...

Thank you for that. They did give me a battery of post care professionals to see. I’m due for another CT scan in 30 days. I’ll begin making appointments on the list this week.

Obviously, kind of a serious fall. Seems likely from your injuries that you lost consciousness on your feet. What do the docs have to say about all that?

Oh, glad you’re on the mend.

Good Lord friend... what the heck !

Take it easy for a while, with that kind of injury it might take longer than you might imagine to get back 100%.

Glad you're still, well, here !

Thank you brother. Mrs DF is hovering around preventing me from doing too much. I am taking it easier but I’m doing what I can.

Docs haven’t nailed anything down yet. Like was suggested before, there are specialist follow ups coming. I’m crossing my fingers that this is an outlier event.

Sorry to hear about the incident, and glad you're still with us. Hope you recover quickly and that they run the root cause to ground.

Take it easy, enjoy Mrs. DF doting on you, don't abuse it though! lol!

They'll quickly find the cause, be it physical or perhaps medication, or a little of both and you will be able to manage it. While you are home, good time to search the interwebs for answers.

DF - Glad you are improving!! While getting better, I'd be wondering what caused this. If you know WHY it happened, then maybe you can prevent it from happening again!

Good luck o you!!!

^^^^^^^ yes plan is to discover why I fell. This morning Mrs DF said I have a black eye. I told her she should see the other guy. She giggled. That’s my super power. I can make the most serious Japanese woman in the world giggle at will. Lol
