Can what are you using? Our house is about 3,000 sq ft. I'd like to get something that covers the outside as well too. We have at any given time 50-60 products using wifi and have 1 gig per spectrum. Thank you!

I have had fairly good luck with the Eero system. One. You have them
Set up they are pretty seamless.

Netgear Orbi and it works very well with over 100 devices, also 1G service, 6,000 sq ft and exterior robots front and back yard, as well as garage devices and Ring cameras. I've gone through several, including TP-Link, ASUS and Lynksys, and all have limitations and compromises. I've found Netgear to be the best mix of setup, performance, flexibility and software. A new consideration is what's approved for US use by the FCC, and Netgear is one of them, as is TP-Link, although this may only affect future use and support, and not existing units.

I have a TP-Link Deco WiFi 6 Mesh System for a slightly larger single story home. I'm very happy, but since it's 4 years old so I'd recommend a newer version than the X55 (e.g. the Deco 7 Pro BE14000)

What I like and would do again:

Wired backhaul. Instead of the access points talking to each other wirelessly, they're talking to each other over Cat 5e cable.

3 access points. 1 serves as both router and access point and the other are access points. The 2 access points are at furthest away north and south points in my house, and the router is prety close to center. Every spot in my house has great wi-fi and so does my garage.

Placement. The furthest north one is by a window so it blasts wi-fi to my drivewary. The furthest south one is just has windows between it an my back patio. In other words, my indoor units are providing great outdoor coverage.

TP-Link. It was my first time purchase from this company and it's been a great experience. TP-Link is still big on wired backhaul. Their set-up and management software has been easy to use, keep updated, and even tune when my ISP increases speeds.

If I replaced, what would I do differently:

Wi-Fi 7. Wi-Fi 6 was the newest at the time, but since I'm going to keep something 4 or 5 years I'd buy latest technology.

2.5G or 10.0G ports. 1.0G ports were the standard 4 years ago, but I'll be needing something faster soon.

Setup a TP-Link Deco system a little while back and it has been great.
I bought the 3 pack and it covers our 4K sq ft home well.
I have one on each floor and will soon be adding the node made to be outside.
I’ll put it on the deck and should cover the whole backyard.

I have had really good experiences with Eero and recently upgraded to 3 eero Pro 7 spaced out our home. 5000sq ft and we have also have up to 80 devices. You can also add more eero modules as needed to extend you range as necessary but the three we have cover through the front and back of the home.

I have been using TP-Link/Tapco mesh for years. I think if you use their whole product line it is the best integrated whole house system and there is nota mandatory subscription for storage.

Any non USA made router is banned and Upgrades/patches banned after 2027.

So far some Netgear, Amazon's Eero, and Adtran and received exemptions from the ban for now.

This is another government cluster fk in the making.

No one is sure how this ban is going to shake out.

Adtran is USA designed and manufactured. Their stuff is carrier class and priced.

If I was buying today, my long team choice is forced to be Amazon, they have the money and power to fight the feds.
There is not current work around for their camera storage subscription.

This ban may go away or not, it is a mess.

TP-link has 65% market share of the US home/small business market and make a great product.

They are fighting for an exemption from the ban.

I have about 100 smart devices connected to the network.

Most are TP-link routers, network switches, wall switches, light bulbs, cameras.

As well as amazon alexas, firesticks, cellphones, computers, and IP phones.

They all work fine.

I had the tp link mesh 6, worked well for 5 yrs or so. My area became very cluttered with other peoples networks. I regularly get wifi 1.3gbs over my 1.0 gb service.

Running a Netgear MR60 Mesh system, it's been reliable, no issues with firmware or updates causing problems. Can't say about Netgear customer service because we haven't needed it.

That model has been superseded by a lot of newer options. We got ours at Costco, right now they sell TP-Link and Deco, there are only 3 options from $120 to $400.

Another TPlink Deco user here. I have five total units, 2xM5 in the house, 1xM5 in the garage, 1xX50 outdoor unit outside the shop, and 1xM5 unit in side the shop.

All of the units in the house are hardwired via Cat6 ethernet. The one inside the shop is hardwired to the one outside the shop, which receives its signal wirelessly from the house units.

They work very well and are pretty user friendly.

Good to know. Based on the wifi names most of my neighbors have netgear products so I haven't had much interference.

Another vote for the Eero system.
I have the 6+ system listed here although there is a newer (and more expensive system) available. My WiFi is easily usable 100ft outside the house.

Edit to add that I have it in my vacation home as well.

AFAIK, TP-Link is a chicom company. And there have been articles of chicom network and IOT products that are sniffing and otherwise doing bad things on home networks.

Personally, I would avoid TP and opt for Netgear, Ubiquiti or others. I’m actually not a big fan of Netgear admin software, creating accounts and such. But the lessor of evils I guess.

eero fan here, been using them for 9 years. Easy to set up and manage. The eero app is great and simple to use. If you don't want to get into the nuts and bolts, you can't go wrong with them.

For future-proofing, whatever vendor you go with I recommend you get boxes with WiFi 7 capabilities so that, as you add more and more net-aware stuff over the years, the net you set up today won't choke as the number of devices on your network expands.

I have an Orbi system with one router and one satellite. Gotta be 5+ years old, works very well for me as I do a lot of TEAMS meetings routed through the satellite while my wife is streaming video content and the niece is video chatting with her friends.

Eero here also and no complaints. Driveway and back lanai covered.

My provider gives Eero free with 1G service. No complaints.

I have used Eero for about 10 yrs.
Eero and Alexa and Ring can "talk" to each other.
Easy system to set up. Auto updates
Large home--the gateway eero connects to your modem. For best connectivity--connect the gateway to another Eero using Cat 5.
You probably do not need the "best" which is their Wifi 7 because not a lot of "smart" devices use Wifi 7.

We (3 story colonial, approx 3k ft/square) upgraded from a nest mesh system (which worked on for a couple years till goggles infected them) to a TP-Link – Deco 7 Pro BE11000 system I got from Costco (now they have the 13000) with 1G service, 48-50 decided connected at a time (including my sons gaming computer) it's been really great. Like any other highly used electronic now days, I did have to reboot the mesh system & router once every couple of months, by my cable company sucks so I blame the need to reboot it on their service.

TP-Link, Eero, Linksys, etc. all allow a separate IoT network as many of those smart devices are 2.4 GHz, and don't need speed, beamforming, or fast roaming. Run your phones, laptops, streaming devices, etc on main network with fast roaming, beamforming, and dual/tri bands.

For example, there is a 0% chance my thermostat can utilize fast roaming but a 100% chance my iPhone benefits from fast roaming.
