My last name is nine letters long. It is phonetically a conjunction of two very common words which, if read separately would stump no one. But together they produce all manner of permutations with pronunciations that involve letters not even present. How is that possible? How do you get that word out of that spelling? It's a mystery.

My last name is 99% of the time pronounced with a "N" beginning the last syllable. There is no "N" in my last name. Not in the last syllable, not in the first, not anywhere.
