"..It will not be easy to change the culture at CBS after years of eroded journalistic standards...

Well, decades, er, generations.

Find out what's causing that and root it out.

It is so inexcusable that 60 Minutes did not uncover the MN childcare center fraud before a Youtuber did. Someone there needs to answer for this.

I'm with you.
I'm encouraged that Ellison hired Weiss to 'clean the house' so to speak and re-center their news room which has already resulted in a number of resignations at CBS. While I'm not a nightly watcher of the 5 or 6 o'clock news, the reality is there's still people who do, and more often than not, they're swayed by whatever gets spewed by the blow-hards on the screen. The OP's attached 'mission statement' of sorts by CBS' Tony Dokupil is a lot of nice words....we'll see.

News media will continue to be a bastion for the Leftist for the foreseeable future, I'm hopeful that Weiss and smilier figures are able to slap some reality into those that have stuck around, while bringing on more people that are not straight out of the journalism-mills called Columbia, Syracuse, Northwestern and the like. We're likely to see continued attempts at creative editing, snide remarks, last-word jabs, and minimizing of perspectives while over-swinging to the opposite; after all while a number of college football games were airing, a number of networks gleefully broadcasted the NYC's mayor swearing-in. Roll Eyes The latest smoke column appears to be a 60 Minutes story which Weiss killed and staffers become indignant about it.

The first time I hear one of the national talking heads say that a common citizen rightfully stopped some nutcase from causing a "mass shooting" by blowing the bastard away and it was a good shoot I will possibly begin to believe what is being spewed on the air. Not holding my breath on that one...

^^^^ You know that’s never going to happen. Even when Eli Dicken dropped that IN mall mass shooter almost immediately, thus saving who knows how many lives, the media themselves never praised him but only wrote down “hero” that someone else said. Acknowledging him a hero would amount to admitting that gun rights advocates are right, and they can’t have that.

^^^^^^^^^^^this is why I doubt real lasting change will happen. At some point they’ll have to admit they were liars to report the truth and 2a and abortion stories will trigger that conflict. I don’t think they have it in them to admit that.

The commies running the msm will never again return to a semi-balanced and unbiased / truthful journalism platform, which it never really was.

Following PDJT’s first election, the owners and editors of the NYT’s issued a mea culpa to its readers apologizing for getting it ‘so wrong’ and vowed to do ‘real journalism’ from that moment forward.

My apologies for the VF link, but much of a search on “nyt mea culpa trump election” has been scrubbed.

“This Is Not a Mea Culpa”: How Trump Weaponized the Times’s Post-Election Non-Apology to Readers”

https://www.vanityfair.com/new...WnvrF9NglQSYK-ZRJrR-

Snip -

“What the Times did do, on page three of its November 13, 2016 print edition, was publish a note to readers—as unusual for the Times as the election had been for the country—from then-publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. and executive editor Dean Baquet. “After such an erratic and unpredictable election,” it said, “there are inevitable questions: Did Donald Trump’s sheer unconventionality lead us and other news outlets to underestimate his support among American voters? What forces and strains in America drove this divisive election and outcome? Most important, how will a president who remains a largely enigmatic figure actually govern when he takes office? As we reflect on the momentous result, and the months of reporting and polling that preceded it, we aim to rededicate ourselves to the fundamental mission of Times journalism.

What HORSESHIT, of course!

Another article on the NYT’s mea culpa -

https://shadowproof.com/2016/1...-election-reporting/

The G-D Commies at the NYT’s never had any intention of changing their ways, and now that commie mamdani is the new boss in town, expect their ‘work’ to become even more unhinged.

We'll see how long CBS adheres to actual journalistic principles.

As I've said before, I got a broadcast journalism degree but never got into the business when I realized I'd have to sell my soul to do it.

Likewise, I have a degree in print journalism and, for a long time, have been embarrassed to acknowledge it publicly. Also never worked in the business, although the ability to write served me well.

"Please watch!" is probably the only true statement there. An acknowledgement that they understand none of us are.

I'll be curious as to how they cover the mid-terms and the 2028 Presidential Campaign & Election. That's the real test. Until then, the jury's still out!

That said, as long as they show evidence they're headed in the right direction, I'm optimistic, but guarded.

No need to wait until then. Just watch the next interview of Rubio by little girl Margaret Brennan and we’ll know. That bitch can’t help herself.
