If you have Neuropathy or a family member has it, you probably understand the amount of pain it can create, and you will live on pregabalin or gabapentin for life so the subject is important.

Had an ingrown nail fixed today, in the course of it my podiatrist asked my about neuropathy and if its something I have been dealing with, which is yes.

My dad has it, his dad, and now me, Type 2, and I take metformin. There is evidence that metformin can make neuropathy worse as long term use lowers vitamin B12 absorption and that leads to damage to the myelin sheath covering nerves.

He recommended EBN Medicals EB-N6 which is a supplement, $150 for 90 days, no insurance will cover it so it's out of pocket.

https://ebmmedical.com/patients/

Here's the specifications:

EB-N6 (including EB-N6DR) contains the following active ingredients per serving (typically 2 capsules daily):

EBM Medical +1
  • L-Methylfolate Calcium: 6 mg (bioactive folate)
  • Methylcobalamin: 4 mg (bioactive vitamin B12)
  • Pyridoxal 5′-Phosphate (P5P): 70 mg (bioactive vitamin B6)
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid: 600 mg (antioxidant)
  • Benfotiamine: 300 mg (fat-soluble thiamine / vitamin B1 derivative

I'm generally not a supplement fan, especially ones where you have to "subscribe" give them a CC and get shipments until you say uncle. However, if it works then it's worth it to try...

The doctor calls in the script to them, they call you back (already done so) and you agree to get on the program, which I've not done

Wondered if anyone here is experiencing Never induced pain, like neuropathy, how you deal with it, have you ever used EB-N6

My podiatrist says it has been used by many patients who have experienced neuropathy either from Diabetes or Cancer Treatments or some physical malady that created it in their bodies and have had good results.

It will either, reduce the pain and stop the process, reduce the increase in the amount of nerve damage so the future isn't as bad as if you didn't take the EB-N6.

The other part of me says, what's so special about their formulation of B12 and B6 that I can't get that same from a multi vitamin that covers both, or, taking B12 and B6 vitamins...

Sorry you're dealing with this HRK. It is painful as hell. I deal with it off and on, but mine is chemo induced. I'll get it 3-4 days after infusion but only lasting a day or 2. Wish I could help but I just muddle through until it goes away.

Increasing circulation by keeping my feet warm, massage, and compression helps me.
Also making sure I have a high arch insole that supports my feet really helps. Superfeet brand insoles are less than $100.00 a pair and are well worth the cost.

A monthly pedicure comes with a massage of the feet and lower legs, and if you are lucky enough to get the old Asian lady she will work your feet where while she is doing it you will hurt bad, but when she is done it feels so good. Reflexology on your feet also is beneficial as the Reflexologist can tell you what is going on with your body when she hits a point that causes you discomfort.

These are what I use for neuropathy in my feet.

Sorry you're dealing with it as well. He said that he's prescribed this to his patients undergoing Chemo induced Neuropathy and it's really helped them, you may want to look into it, hopefully we'll get some good intel here as is normal on SF

I take B12 that's about it. I find walking helps for some reason so I do a couple of miles on the treadmill each day.

I have ideopathic neuropathy in my feet and shins. I use lidocaine to help me sleep as needed. During the day, I just grin and bear it.

Have been taking the EB-N6 for a month or so, can't tell a difference so far, but PN varies so much between people I would not let that deter you. Mine was $159 plus shipping for a 90 day supply.

Walking? Good Lord, If I walk more than 20 minutes non stop my feet are on fire! I take 1200 mg Gabapentin.
That being said, mornings are the worst. I pace the floor off and on for a little while and it limbers up my feet and I'm pretty good the rest of the day. And 2 Tylenol in the afternoon.
It is annoying!

I have neuropathy. No pain, but foot numbness that impairs my sense of balance. My neurologist says that nerves constricted where they exit the spine cause pain. Thankfully I don’t have that.

I walk at least two miles per day to practice dealing with the impairment. I once saw an unfortunate fellow that had both legs amputated below the knee. His shins were aluminum tubes. His feet were rubber appendages on the tubes. Yet he got along with the aid of a cane. I keep him in mind.

Yes, that real world experience is important, my Doc said that it will either, help reduce it or help slow the growth so the future isn't as bad as it could be.

And that is the price, first batch the first 30 days are free plus $106 after to get the whole 90 day deal and $159 thereafter.

Did your PCP or Podiatrist say anything about his/her patients history with it... Mine inferred that many saw some relief.

Yes in some cases, but like I said earlier PN is so different among patients, you could have 100 people identify with PN but have 80 completely different situations. And for many of us it is not even the same day to day, which makes improvement hard to measure. A lot of it depends on what the source of the PN is. I was seen 30 years ago by the head of the neurology department at the medical school at Ohio State U, and he said mine was from a Guillain-Barre reaction, which would cause different nerve results from some other sources.

I have it, take Gabapentin, and wear snowmobile-boot-liners routinely to keep my feet warm. The warmth helps a LOT.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

I have it and take 600mg of Pregabalin (Lyrica) split between 2 doses. It took a long time for me to get to a therapeutic tolerable maintenance program. My original doctor was not understanding how painful my flairs actually were and was creeping along trying stuff that was not working. My nerve pain triggers all over my body and at times felt as if was being lit on fire or my skin was being peeled off. Pain is currently managed, deal with the numbness, deal with the cold feeling feet. When my feet feel cold I physically touch them with my hands to see if there cold to the touch or just tricking my brain to think they’re cold. It still sucks but the pain levels are manageable. Feel free to reach out to me offline and I can discuss further.

As a side note, a family member had a horrific accident and was having neuropathy pain in his legs. I was told about his issues and how badly he was in pain. I searched him out at my nieces wedding and had a long conversation with him about what he was going through and my journey to relief. He told me at the time I was the first person who actually seemed to understand the magnitude of his agony. I gave him a pathway and direction to take with his medical team. I didn’t think much about it other than I heard through the grapevine he was doing better. This past June, I he sought me out at my nephews wedding and thanked me and told me that I had saved his life and that up until our conversation he had lost all hope of relief.

Thank you I'll reach out, but if you are ok, post your thoughts here, we clearly have plenty that are dealing with it, I think I got the idea for Pregabalin from you or someone in similar situation here in a previous thread and I'm up to the same 600mg a day, but that's the limit on Pregabalin. I need to do more as at this point like you it's management.

One key we discussed is better sugar management so I've ordered a Stelo to wear, have to pay out of pocket but that's fine, although it should be covered, that's a different argument.

My 88 year old dad needs relief, I constantly find him subscribing to OTC supplements based on SM advertising to the point I had to cancel his CC in order to stop the $$$$ a month coming out of his
bank account.

That's fantastic, glad to hear he got some relief. I may order the EB-N6, for now I found a bottle of B12 and a Senior Multi Vitamin we have in the cabinet so it's out on my counter.

Since I'm on the highest level of Monjaro, I see my PCP next 17th I'm going to inquire about stopping Metformin and seeing if my BS will be under control for a few months using the Stelo as a monitoring system.

I'm also curious if taking the same vitamins as in EB-6N such as B6 and B12 which seem to be the major component, would do similar for rebuilding the nerves sheathing, apparently over 90 days EB-6N is supposed to get your body to start rebuilding the nerve coating and that helps with the pain by protecting the nerve exposure.

Plus, I'm still too fat... That's another issue....
