Not my video, but I was under it. Flyby part at 1:02. Not that you would skip the anthem. Wink

Those guys lost their wings, though. Way lower than flight regs.

I remember Dads house being a handy target for Cobras and later Apaches from Ft. Rucker. That, and Chinooks doing lazy 8s in the sky.

Like RHINOWSO I've rigged a few ships. One of my favorite missions was SSC (Surface Search & Control) where individual aircraft were given a sector to fly and report back on types of ships, heading & speed. This was supposed to give CIC greater SA on what was going on around the carrier beyond visual range.

A slow stern-to-bow pass was always the first pass. If it was a commercial ship one pass is all they got. But if it was a sailboat with scantily clad (or not) ladies enjoying the sun, they always got a second pass up the other side to gather more info for CIC. Wink

This was a pretty solid flyover from the Blue Angels a couple of weeks ago in St. Louis. I'm sure above 500 feet and a usual part of their routine but impressive nonetheless.

Then there were these guys several years ago at a Hawkeye game. I believe the lead pilot got clipped.

Yeah I know the flight lead... he kept his wings but was done flying for the Navy, but he landed on his feet flying for someone else. Wink

When I was deployed to WestPac we would make simulated attack runs on the ships and ferries that ran between the islands in Japan. Never overflew them for safety reasons but certainly had some low and fast passes. On the ferries everyone would just line the rails and wave. Smile

back in the day, when I first started in law enforcement, I worked at a small town along the Oregon coast.

One day, a B-52 overflew the town at a very low level...word came later that the aircraft was returning from low-level evasion training in AZ was the aircraft commander decided to provide additional training on the way home to WA...The citizens went nuts, dozens of calls, everything from a plane crash (because it was trailing the well known dark exhaust from the engines) to asking if the soviets were invaded (who else would attack us?)...one person even complained that the aircraft didn't have any identifying numbers or insignia/flag--arguing with the poor dispatcher that he wanted to file a complaint but the 'damn plane wasn't marked'.

The most interesting details was the pilot had to clear a bridge south of town (height 260 feet) and a hill north of town (height 350) by increasing altitude both times. Damn impressive flying. At the time, the AF said it was unauthorized and it would be addressed with the crew (bet that was an interesting discussion)

Way back in the 80's I was working on the rotor head of a SH-60B on the flight deck of a Spru-Can. I was looking aft and noticed a Tomcat coming up pretty fast and very low. It went down the starboard side not much more above the water then I was atop the Helo.
As it went by I was thinking "Dang, That thing is quiet" I realized why with just enough time to cover my ears before the BOOM! hit.

I wish I had a camrea,

My oldest son was deep sea fishing off the coast of Southern California several years ago and got buzzed twice by a fighter jet. First time was not all that close but got their attention. Second time he described it as a "scream by,' close, loud, and cool as hell! Smile
