I always did the same until there weren't any cars on the lot. I bought a new Toyota Highlander a few months ago that I had to order. Our dealer, who normally has about 150 new Toyotas on his lot, had 6. Easy to pick out of 150 - not easy to pick out of 6. I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings when I called you stupid - I thought you already knew - Unknown ................................... When you have no future, you live in the past. I ordered a new 2022 Chevy Traverse through our fleet company last year. 10/12/2021 Order placed 10/13/2021 Order received by GM Initial delivery estimate was the week of 2/14/22 1/24/2022 received notice the order is "delayed". I have no idea when it will actually show up. I have two co-workers that ordered Dodge Durango's at the same time and both have received them. I went with the Traverse again (currently have a 2020) because it was optioned better (remote start, heated seats and steering wheel) only to find out well after the order that GM isn't doing heated seats or steering wheel to save on chip usage. My current 2020 Traverse has 76K miles on it. Since the new one wont have heated seats I'll be happy to wait till winter is over since my current Traverse has those. This has to be affecting dealerships in a negative way. The more they charge, the less they'll sell. Thousands of people would buy a new vehicle right now if things were even close to normal. There's a point where price gouging won't make up for thousands of lost sales. The local Chevy dealer can't operate like its a Ferrari dealership, with ultra low volume and high prices. I Deal In Lead |
My local Ford Dealership, the one I bought a new Bronco from almost 12 months ago, has a lot of vehicles in stock right now. Don't know what their prices are though.

My Maverick order in mid-August has been assigned a VIN which means it has been selected for scheduling. No build date yet but I should at least get a 2022 one. Thanks goodness I have X-Plan and the Maverick is eligible. No unrequested add-ons, $100 paperwork fee and slightly under sticker. Harshest Dream, Reality

I ordered my Chevy 3500HD gasser on 12/02/21 and picked it up 2/16/22. I order a heated steering wheel and seats. When it arrived, they are set up for it but no chip(s). Dealer will call and install them when they arrive. Sigs P-220, P-226 9mm, & P-230SL (CCW)

Down With The Sickness |
I ordered a Mustang Mach E GTPE on 6/28/21. Come fall my '21 order was changed to a '22. Went into production 1/19/22 with an ETA of 3/8/22. Now I'm on chip hold until 6/5/22. My dealer is selling orders at MSRP and have market adjustments on in stock vehicles. They called me about a GT non-performance edition that they got in. If I wanted one now it was $15k over sticker. Hard pass for me but it was sold in less than a week.

I live near the Daytona Auto Mall. Basically every car dealer known to man on one strip of road. There’s tons of cars there. Not one of those lots has 6 cars. Or they started letting the employees all park out front. Lol I know there are shortages but I perhaps think they are very specific shortages. Ie, the Denali with the quad turbo diesel fusion reactor 4 stroke. If you want a Toyota Corolla and aren’t locked into a specific set of options you will drive off with a Corolla. Now you won’t be getting a bargain but that’s a whole ‘nother problem. You guys got me thinking though. I might stop next time and look around some of the lots to see what actually is for sale. It sounds awful if this thread is an accurate representation.

We had to get a new vehicle as the old Buick finally crapped out. What a pain in the rear looking for vehicles. I learned that data on the websites was old or not accurate. Don’t waste your time trying for any kind of a deal. Pay what they ask or the next guy will. We ended up with a lease with hope for better deals in the near future. Semper Fidelis

I may need to get a fresh ride this year. Local Ford dealer has a $5K adjusted market addition on the very few Mavericks (only one) and Bronco Sports that I spotted. No Edges seen, but Lincolns seemed to be in fair supply.

Not a car but a tractor. In October the Orange dealer said he had requested "all they will send me" . Multiple tractor trailer truck loads. Said I could get on the waiting list for no deposit but expect it to be 4 or more likely 6 months. Drove 2 miles over to the Green dealer and they had exactly what I wanted. Just arrived. Demand meant no price negotiating so sticker or walk. He said he had no idea when he would get another one. I bought it. Collecting dust.

Just for fun, I looked around the Seattle area Toyota dealerships for a new 2022 Toyota Highlander. A few XLE models around but close to zero for the Limited or Platinum version of it.

My Time is Yours |
Was going to pull the chute on the Suburban and get a GLS, the dealership wanted $25k over sticker. No thanks. Told a friend that, he said that Ford Broncos are $40-50k over sticker. CRAZY. God, Family, Country.

One of my daughters just bought a used 2017 Subaru after she got rear ended at 70 MPH on the freeway by another girl who was texting while driving. She was hit so hard it spun her into the center divider and then back into her portion of freeway. Her 2014 Subaru was totaled but she sustained no serious injuries. It's been interesting to see the prices of used cars, what cars are available and how fast you need to move to get a car that might be a good choice. It feels like the car market has become the housing market.

My department ordered two new Tahoes in July 2021. In December 2021, we were told that our vehicles won't be built UNTIL sometime in April 2022.......No updates since then.

Ordered two Lexus vehicles last year, both 6 month+ for delivery. The local dealership has had zero inventory over the last year but managed to set sales records somehow.
