Maybe because there's No sales tax in Oregon Smile Smile

You'll note it was a general question, not specifically "aimed" at OR.

You'll note the thread title is about Oregon.

The Dems have successfully entrenched themselves into Oregon Government. That is the sad fact of most of the West Coast.

And as sad as this is, even sadder is the fact all west coast states suffer from the same effect. A few left leaning counties making decisions for the rest of the state.

Oregon has been lucky so far. When they introduce this crap the silent right leanning counties still have enough voice to be heard. And it scares the Dems just enough to back off. This will change as time goes on if something is not done. Eventually the right will not be heard.

I've seen bills like this at the beginning of the year for the past few years. It's the left throwing shit at the wall to see what will stick. Testing the waters if you will.

These outragious bills are introduced, the local outfits like OFF fight like hell and spend all their cash and the bills eventually get dropped.......most of them Confused

Then it all starts again the next year. Meanwhile, the NRA writes us off because we are sandwiched in between CA and WA and they figured we will just be another casualty.

I hope they are not right.

Despite the politics and terrible housing and cost of living crisis going on right now, I have a certain fondness for this state.

It gave me my first taste of freedom when I moved up here all those years ago: CCW right off the bat, drive east 10 miles and the whole forest is your outdoor range, no waiting period on firearm purchases, no draconian emission checks and regulations on those of us who couldn't afford a newish vehicle. Little stuff that all equals big when put together.

First time in my life I didn't feel the hot, smelly breath of .gov breathing down my back.

I will relocate if pushed, but I would rather stay and try to save this place. It isn't perfect, but its the closest I've ever been to "home"

My apologies. I was not aware that we had a zero thread drift policy for topics. Wait...

These liberal extremists are making progress with their anti-self defense bills. However once RBG is out of commission, I suspect the SCOTUS will start taking 2A cases and deciding in the favor of the constitution.

And the left will continue to ignore the rulings.

5 rounds? Forcing people back to a New York/Civil War reload - if people would even try to follow it.

Next up, outlaw accuracy.

Then, outlaw goblins.

Then, outlaw self defense.

If you accept your status as a victim, the analysis all becomes easier.

I'm curious. SCOTUS has already identified the 2A as an individual right and that weapons in general circulation are legal for Americans to own. Now, taking this process forward, what happens when SCOTUS eventually rules that the "right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" means exactly what it says. When California or New York ban AR-15's or some other semi-autos, can people file a class action lawsuit against state government for being in violation of the law ad in so doing, infringing on their constitutional rights?

No question leftist states will continue to try and find ways to skirt SCOTUS rulings, I'm just curious if we the people have any legal recourse when a state openly violates a SCOTUS ruling.

These retarded democrats know this ridiculous bill isn't going anywhere. As was established on page 1 of this thread, this bill was essentially written by children. Literally, this thing is full of ideas formulated by high school children. And the dems are actually moving this bill forward because they think it's cute.

These leftists are so disgustingly cavalier with innocent people's lives...ugg, I actually don't even know what to say.

This is a complete overreach and is the hand of tyranny, and it should be recognized as such. As this crap keeps encroaching, we're no doubt getting closer to a tipping point on this subject. Appropriately so.

Oh it gets better.
It was an exercise with Kate Brown, and "Students for a Change", in Lake Oswego. It was put forth by Rep Andrea Salinas, of Lake Oswego, and Rob Wagner, of Tualatin.

That's right, rich high school kids concocted that bullshit.
The powers that be are now getting clueless brats to write this shit.

^^^ Sadly, the parents of those kids are well connected politically. Lots of Lawyers, and high end business-men along with OHSU doctors in Lake-O.

They've got a main line right into the capital building.

Yes, this is no more than a high school civics project for a bunch of rich kids. These kids are looking for something to put on their college applications, other than, "I'm from a rich family."

My guess is they will get a lot of air time and will tap into the brats from Florida since they can afford to fly them in and house them.

Just because there's no sales tax in Oregon doesn't mean a bunch of overreaching progressive socialists in the state house won't try to impose burdensome excise taxes on anything gun related in order to legislate them out of existence! You know, for the children... Roll Eyes

Like the yearly "art" tax that I am supposed to pay for the privilege of living in Multnomah county.

These clowns will tax anything and everything if they can.

Finally, a use for all of that hemp that is grown here.

An article on gun control bills in this mornings Oregonian mentions a magazine limit set forth in one bill-

"It would ban magazines that hold more than five rounds of ammunition. The bill exempts .22-caliber revolvers and any lever-action revolver."

So there IS some good news for any of us that carry a .22 caliber revolver for self defense, or, a lever-action revolver of any caliber.

Guess I'll have to dust off my old 54-40 lever-action revolver.

Oh. Wait. I'm never going near the Left Coast again, at least until after war is declared.

They will simply continue to pass these "laws" in the full knowledge that they are unconstitutional. They can tie it up in litigation for months/years. Perhaps hoping to get before the SCOTUS when the balance will favor their asinine views and policies.

Bring the suit in the "ninth" where the odds are pretty good they will win, even they would be overturned at SCOTUS. Keep doing this until the SCOTUS majority is unconstitutional, and they win. They have time and money, not to mention idiots who believe their shit.
