Doing what needs to be done, while I'm sure the government will do the exact opposite and punish them.

Oh that beating stopped WAY too soon. That MF was still conscious, could still walk, talk, etc. I wouldn't have stopped beating him until the police pulled me off.

Stockton...that place is a giant no-go zone. It's the Oakland or, Richmond of the Central Valley, do not stop.

The guy filming is apart of the problem. He knows the guy filling the garbage can is doing wrong but, asks for some 'Swishers' (Swisher Sweet), idiot seeing if he can get a freebee off a theft Roll Eyes
...then proceeds to tell the clerks 'there's nothing you can do' as the cigarette racks are being emptied, a nice backhanded way of excusing the theft
...then as the beating commences, starts talking about 'getting his ass whopped', now the idiot is posing like he was telling the thief not to steal prior.

Not a mystery why there's a cultural and behavioral breakdown amongst certain segments in society.

Amen and DITTO!!!

All I can say is the dude holding him wasn't doing a very good job. If I had been in control of the head/neck area, there wouldn't have been one peep coming from those vocal chords, because I woulda been choking the ever-loving SH*T outta him!

So who was that standing outside?? His "posse"??? Woulda been a MUCH shorter video in Texas. Just sayin'...

You know who else needs an ass beating? The loudmouthed "director" with the phone, telling everyone what they should or shouldn't do.

And isn't appropriate that the trash robbing the store is using a garbage can?

For those that can't tell, Stockton, California, is a complete and total shithole.

I feel truly sorry for store owners and those working in retail these days. There are certain counties in California where they would be apt to prosecute the two gentlemen dealing with this asshole.

The thief decided “seek and ye shall find” meant he could steal with impunity.

He learned that in an Indian-owned 7-11, it’s seek and ye shall find a Sikh with a mop handle and the skill to use it.

I hope the store owner stays safe and isn't charged or sued. He's a hero and that beating warmed my heart, even if it stopped far too soon.

Yes, I hope they don't get charged. The District Attorney's office in that county (San Joaquin) is not to be trusted.

The Sheriff's patrol guys in my county (next door to San Joaquin) generally won't even continue a pursuit into that county because they don't trust the DA there.

As others have mentioned, Stockton is pleasant little oasis in the central valley. I make sure I get gas in Lodi to the north or Santa Nella to the south when driving I-5. Hwy 99 isn't any better.

A couple of things irk me about these robberies and the people who shrug their shoulders. "Let them go. Your insurance will cover your losses!" Well, I don't think that's the case. Perhaps your coverage doesn't cover theft. Secondly, if you make too many claims like this, your rates will jump to being too expensive or your carrier will drop you.

Secondly, I don't blame the police for not showing up for these types of theft. They could haul that perp straight to booking, only to be released on lame charges and the DA won't press charges. So, why waste their time.

Lastly, the store owners have no choice but to take matters into their own hands. CA politicians have crafted crappy policies and sentencing guidelines that embolden crooks to steal without consequences. This is 100% the result of bad policy and now every day citizens and business owners are now law enforcement and executioner.

I had to go to a job site in Stockton a few years back.

I had a little too much coffee and had to stop and take a piss.

Saw a McDonalds and pulled in to use the bathroom.

When I went in to the store, it was like holy shit! The place was filled with homeless people. I got pushed up on several times to buy them food. Yes, I stood out in the crowd.

Naturally the bathrooms were locked and I had to go to the counter to get a key.

I had no idea that Stockton was that bad.

I do now…

It has definitely gotten worst over the years. It is hard to believe that UOP (University of the Pacific) is located there and the NFL 49ers used to practice there.

Interesting sidebar: Manteca which is just north of Stockton has a booming restate market. It is being marketed as the Far East Bay for folks who can't afford to live where they work
