I DID read comics as a kid and used to trade with neighbor kids. I only really remember DC Comics: Superman, Batman, and The Flash (my favorite). Sure I’ve seen some of the movies—we had kids, but never watch them now. In fact, I have a general dislike for SciFi, Fantasy, and Comic Book movies.

Thought it sucked and never watched another one.

It's not just you. I still have my comic book collection in the attic.
But Hollywood/Disney has become a puppy mill for these movies and the more they pump out, the more I lose interest. Not even Covid got me to sit down and watch the ones I had passed up.

The first iron man was alright.
Deadpool was great.
Guardians of the galaxy was fun.
I've seen a few others but they did nothing for me. I didnt read comics as a kid.

This stuff is for pre-teens, and for « adults » who refuse to grow. Real men read real books, date women, practice sports, build stuff, raise kids. Comic books are for the mentally underdeveloped.

Nope. No interest. But I'm an old-timer; I grew up reading DC Superman, Batman and Action Comics in the early 60's.
I hated the 'modern' artwork change in the early 70's.
I never was a big fan of Marvel Comics, and the tsunami of Marvel-based movies do nothing for me.

I think the casting across the MCU was excellent and well acted by the lot of them, and I enjoyed the comedic bits strewn about.

Between the Movies and associated Series they've created as comprehensive of a cinematic universe as anything else I've ever seen. It's a lot of content.

It's all certainly worth watching once, at Cable prices...

I never read comic books as a kid, I wasn't allowed to but don't know why. I saw a few early Batman's ans the first 2 Ironman movies but I don't have any interest in the flurry of superhero movies. I thought maybe I was just too old.

As mentioned, I find them interesting, a few are tough to get through and I actually didn't finish the latest Black Widow, and probably wont but that doesn't mean folks that like them are somehow void of culture or know what good entertainment is.

I don't consider Marvel movies Oscar worthy, great story telling, or something like that, but if I had to decide whether the amount of entertainment I get from it was worth the price I would most often say yes.

I don't generally find Westerns to be entertaining, as I'm sure MANY folks here do. I understand their appeal, I just don't find them entertaining.

In my community at work a LARGE number of folks do D&D, Comic-con, Role-playing, LARP'ing. Again, I can't get into it myself but I appreciate their dedication and creativity.

I've mentioned it before but I've come to the point where I find most new music annoying. Does that mean its worse than music from my generation, obviously not. But it's simply the same stage every generation and every person comes to. Doesn't make the stuff you don't enjoy any worse than the things you do. It's simply, an opinion.

So, like some have already said, I'd agree that its got a lot to do with the generation you grew up in. Born in '83, all my toys were GI Joe, Transformers, and Marvel comics. To see those come to the big screen I'm ecstatic every time. Sometimes I'm left disappointed, as with GI Joe, the latter Transformers and even a few Marvel movies. The craze will die out like everything else does but for me it's really cool to see what I loved as a kid put on the screen.

My initial reply was harsh. I will say I think it's pretty narrow-minded to assume a "real man" can't enjoy a comic.

I just can’t either.
You know what else all the Star Wars stuff. I loved Star Wars as a kid.
I was in middle school when they re-released the original 3 and camped out for tickets.

Now I am like no thanks.

No interest whatsoever. Never watched a single one!

Many times I end up watching repeats of older movies for the hundredth + time. Same for what are called tv shows now. Pitiful.

If you are implying that I am badly educated, well, I am not Samuel Clemens or Henry Mencken, but I did finish my university course at the very top of my class of 40. I also have a library of 1200 volumes, in five languages.

Yup. Comic books are for people with delayed development. The same people who think that a bicycle is a transportation method for adults, that “the Avengers” is as much as a piece of creative art as “the Divine Comedy” etc.

Whatever floats one’s boat: I am all for people consuming whatever pablum and watery beer they want. It’s just not real culture or acceptable entertainment for an adult man.

Oh no no no, I've battled ignorance once already today, my legs hurt.

My great-grandfather used to say all the time that "A real woman stays home, takes care of the house, raises babies, takes care of her man and stays out of the way." It reminds me a lot of what you said.

By his standard I'd probably be a "fake man" also.

For anyone reading, if you're old enough for someone to look down on you for liking comics, you're also old enough to understand you don't need to give a shit what anyone thinks of your hobby. Enjoy it ol' boy.

There have been very few movies that I've really liked in the past 5-10 years. I've watched most of the comic movies with family. It's mindless entertainment, and while some were enjoyable for what they were, I can't really get excited about any of them. I never read comics as a kid, though, so maybe that's part of it.

On the other hand, I rented Ford v Ferrari this week (yeah, I'm a year or so behind), and really enjoyed it. It was an interesting story with great character portrayals, especially by Christian Bale and the actress who played his wife. I wish Hollywood would spend their time making more movies like that.

Used to read tons of comic books as a child. While the names of half of them current super heroes ring a bell, NONE of them match the mental picture i made of them.

The current ones are just weird angry folk in tights. Not even Mel Brooks or a porno parody can make them funny.

The earlier Batman saga put me to sleep in minutes. There’s improvement in the darker one, still they borr the lights out of me.
Watched Logan’s movies too but find nothing redeeming.

Tried several times, now i just skip them.
Not even light entertainment for me.

Adam West rules, so does the early Superman. Lots of imagination then,
