We got 12 to 14 inches here in northern Kentucky. The problem is the hanging on January Temps. The plow trucks filled the bottom of the driveway back full of frozen yuck. I leave the cargo tie down bars atop my van in winter. They are hard to clean the snow from as I am short. The damn mess becomes a slab of ice. I cannot get in the driveway so I park across the street at a small business while I feed and water my cat. Today, I hear a loud noise and look to see if it's my neighbor across the way. Nope, big slab of ice came down forward off the top. I have a lovely 12 inch Crack in the bottom of my wind shield now. It's all good. It's just all good.

Yeah, I have been at the Plano Costco a couple of times, and shit, just negotiating the parking lot was a nightmare. It stopped snowing and things seem to be melting off thankfully; it has been a pain to get our dog out to do her business, she hates snow. This is a large event for central Arkansas. My best estimate is 9 inches so far. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

Yep, we've got about 8-10 inches up here. While that's above average, it's not uncommon around here. We usually have several dustings each year plus a couple multiple inch snows. Every 5ish years we'll have a larger event with a foot or more. But it's still the south, so most folks here don't know how to drive in the snow, and snow tires aren't a thing. There are dozens of cars in ditches around the area. Even one of the county's snowplows flipped over. At least it wasn't ice. That's when it gets really nasty. And it'll be mid-40s and sunny tomorrow, so it won't stick around long.

It started here as sleet on Sunday so we've got about 2+ inches of ice below the snow... but tomorrow it's supposed to be sunny and warm up to above freezing! "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

So far we only have 2" here in the N GA Mountains. I have all my faucets covered with styrofoam covers. Add have turned off their supply. We well supply line is 24" underground. I have a tractor and PTO generator in place. The trees get heavy with snow and ice here and take out the lines. He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

I have 2 vehicles with snow equipped tires. I want to get out there and have some fun but like you said, idiots don’t plan and they could run into me. Watching the news is hilarious. Mustang, Camaro, and the like, on summers, trying to drive on an overpass, sliding, and bam! Either a wreck into another vehicle or a concrete barrier. It’s like watching bumper cars at the carnival. Fucking idiots. Hi po all seasons would keep you covered but they aren’t bright enough for that. They can only think of today and never any forward thinking, especially regarding their vehicle. SMH. I tried to walk the half acre to my mailbox. The weather so severe that I am now typing this on my phone, lost in the trees. Trying to dynamite through the ice to my door. Tell my my sister I am sorry. ___________________ "He who is without oil, shall throw the first rod" Compressions 9.5:1

Follow up: I destroyed my fence and my left foot. Too cloudy for the signal mirror. All is lost! ___________________ "He who is without oil, shall throw the first rod" Compressions 9.5:1

Don’t worry, the population explosion will head your way next. Once Dallas and Collin are completely out of land to develop, Tarrant and Denton are next. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

About another inch last night, and perhaps more later this morning. Going to follow my advice given in Para's Atlanta thread, and get my Single Six out. Lots of Canada geese spend the winter nearby...

I got up with the chickens to start the shoveling. The DWS (driveway, walk, and steps) are now cleared, and the hard decisions have come: Irish coffee, or bloody Mary? God bless America.

Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best |
3 measly inches and everybody forgot how to drive. Wrecks everywhere starting about 2 hours before shift change yesterday afternoon. Got home an hour and a half late, walked the dog in the snowy darkness. That was peaceful. The roads aren't much better this morning, but at least everybody's home and not out running into each other. Frankly, I'm disappointed in my fellow far-north Hoosiers. We're supposed to be better than this.
