I see that your location is “On the water“ which isn’t much help for a weather condition post. Serious about crackers

I am currently in Southern Delaware and just measured about 9-10 inches with another inch or two forecasted. Daughter has friend over informed her that she would, sadly, be eaten first. Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris

I do feel bad for you guys suffering through legit winter weather. While I can't stand CA politics and single-party rule, these are the months that I get to enjoy the benefits of high taxes. I drove the 59 convertible to Costco today. Sunny and low 50s. P229

Power is nothing without control |
I’ve got some MREs in the basement, so it isn’t that I don’t have food…I’d just like to poop again sometime before February so I’m avoiding them. Anyway, I was able to get away with shoveling out a small area behind my car and then just backing my way down the driveway using the rear wheels to pack a trail for the fronts to follow. It got me out of the driveway, and that was the hard part. - Bret

Fighting the good fight |
We managed to dodge the bulk of it, with the real snow staying north of the Missouri/Arkansas border. Ended up with rain followed by a little sleet and a dusting of about a quarter inch of snow. Besides some patchy ice from the sleet and remaining rainwater that froze on surfaces, the roads were mostly fine. Mainly just dealing with the cold temps in the teens. Round 2 is heading our way Thursday. Currently calling for 3-4 inches, but that may change by then.

Savor the limelight |
Right? Not since COVID have 62 million people died in this country. 62 million people under winter storm threat I must have misunderstood the story. They way they were hyping it on CNN, I thought for sure sudden doom was upon us. I think we may have dodged this storm entirely.

If you see me running try to keep up |
I grew up in the Midwest and looked forward to the blizzards as a kid. We were poor so there was no stocking up on food, we had as little during the snow storms than we did when it wasn’t snowing. As I think back, not sure what we would have done if we were stuck inside for any significant time. Even spent one winter without electricity. One kerosene heater literally kept us from freezing. We also cooked on it and heated up the bath water on it. Those were the days……..

We have a 5 incher coming in overnight. I usually go to the grocery store on Mondays to pick up fresh fruit for the week. I swear people thought the apocalypse was coming. I've never seen the place this crowded on a Monday. For crap's sake, this is Colorado, it snows here. I did get my fruit. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

I'm in PA outside of Philly and fortunately we only got a few inches. If I could afford it I'd have a second home in Tucson or Florida to escape winter weather. The news media generates a lot of fear with these storms but snow removal crews are efficient enough so within 24 hours or less major arteries are cleared so no need for panic buying.

Outside of Ft Worth, we have 3"-6" of snow on our property, more tonight in the forecast. At least it ain't freezing cold, in the mid 30s so far. I live an hour north of KC and we got an average of 14" with 20"-25" drifts. It snowed Saturday night through to early Monday morning. Winds were from 20-35mph most of the day Sunday. I did my usual shopping on Thursday and got stuff I needed for the week. I went to a few stores in Liberty, MO on Friday just to see the panic. People were wild eyed, rushing through the store grabbing chips, soda, bread, milk and anything else they didn't have to cook. Many of the bread shelves were empty, toilet paper shelves near empty. It was like the pandemic all over again. The lines to check out were out the door in some stores. People were losing their mind and rude. Made me think, what would these people be like in a real crisis? We have a generator we bought several years ago and a snowblower and plenty of gas for both. A stocked deep freeze and ingredients to make just about anything from scratch. Luckily we didn't get the ice KC did and never lost power. We spent the day Monday making a path to the gravel road 250yds from the house. __________________________

We got sleet in DFW, that is less than half ass snow. It turned to rain a few hours after. The local news tried to sensationalize it, as expected as they are the fucking media after all, but it didn’t work. One semi with trailer, probably with tires with very little tread, fishtailed, hit a guard rail on an overpass, to the point the hood fell multiple stories down. That was it. A few wrecks but the news this morning did not last long and it cut to the normal morning of morning show bullshit programming. Our only “thing” will be Sat AM it will turn into ice. It’s above freezing now and will remain that way until Sat AM but it will quickly thaw out Saturday afternoon and turn into liquid. Having said that, I avoid Costco like the plague almost the entire month of December as it’s a zoo. I didn’t want to restock the pantry, fridge and freezer last week either because of the Jan 1 holiday, NYE, etc. People returning shit and it’s still fever pitch consumer product holiday bonanza season. So I went last night as after a month I was out of everything. The K9 needed Cosequin and I needed more than food, actual soap and what not for supplies for the home. It was extremely busy for 30 minutes to close on a weeknight. I talked to my people that work there. Even the news said 2 days of this weather, snow, but likely sleet. All the fucking bread was gone. Ryan said he watched some clown use shopping carts and filled them with as much water as he could push with those 2 carts. I asked him if when it gets this cold here (below freezing) if the water shuts off at his crib. Ryan laughed. They were low on my canned carbonated water but they had some and even had some TP left as I was running low. There were even eggs, but the got damn bread was all gone. I also asked Ryan if that’s what people did during inclement weather here..stay at home for 2 days and just eat bread all day. I said “They won’t be able to shit for a week.” He had to hold back with laughter as the line was long and he ain’t losing his job over my comedic attempts. The same came up at the job today on our team meeting. I said almost the exact same thing and my team laughed. Most of them are up North where they actually get sub zero weather, frequent snow, and hardcore winter. People in TX are fucking idiots when it comes to snow, sleet, ice, it’s like a meteor is coming from the galaxy to kill us all. I have winter tires on my fast car and my truck as solid all seasons that do well in this shit. I wanted to go out and hoon, real bad. Maybe even suit up and take the MX bike out for some laps around the neighborhood. Maybe tomorrow. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

My Costco has been fine during Dec and Jan. No huge lines, no waiting in the self checkout. More important, as usual, no waiting in the gas lines. Guess you live in a more congested part of DFW.
