Deputy Chief Says Minneapolis Officers Walked Off Job Without Even Filing Paperwork

Sad, but predictable. "The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people." "Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy." "I did," said Ford, "it is." "So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?" "It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want." "You mean they actually vote for the lizards." "Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course." "But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?" "Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Exactly what I was gonna say. I probably mentioned it here once-or-twice before, but I once considered going into LE. Thought carefully about it and decided I didn't have the right stuff for it. I have, however, many times worked with various departments at the municipal and county levels in a volunteer capacity. I've had many LE friends and acquaintances over the years, too. In the present social atmosphere I would never even remotely consider going into LE. My heart goes out to those for whom it's a calling and love the job. Or, at least, used to love the job. What's going on now is heart-breaking "America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system,,,, but too early to shoot the bastards." -- Claire Wolfe "If we let things terrify us, life will not be worth living." -- Seneca the Younger, Roman Stoic philosopher

“There’s nothing that leads us to believe that at this point the numbers are so great that it’s going to be problematic,” Elder told the Star Tribune. ““People seek to leave employment for a myriad [of] reasons — the MPD is no exception"... Clueless, just fucking clueless. Numbers for new hires are down now, and not getting any better any time soon. Veteran officers are leaving sooner than later, seeking early retirement, or leaving for greener pastures. And that's not just in Minneapolis. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. The only thing surprising to me is that more officers are not bailing. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

hello darkness my old friend |
Reminds me of one of my Sgts. He decided to retire one weekend after a spat with our idiot chief. He called in on Monday and and advised them that he had retired. He then advised the chief that he loaded all of his police shit in his take home car and they had an hour to come pick it or he would have it towed. Anyway good for the cops who are bailing. I'm sure it was a difficult decision but they realized that if they are forced to arrest a minority and it goes down hill they will not get due process no matter what happens. No job or calling is worth what they are asking officers to do and risk these days. Good luck to the officers they hire to replace these officers. Considering how hard it has been in the past decade to find decent people to work in law enforcement its gonna be real interesting who they fill these spots with. Our last hiring we had 6 openings and three candidates. one of the candidates had warrants. Oh well...

What about his pension? That is something you can't walk away from without filing. Living the Dream

Pension accounts can transfer to another agency participating within the same pension system. By not completing 'paperwork', it might have to do with health insurance?

. What is the unemployment rate now, and chances of getting a job close to what they were being payed. Wait until the economy picks up then see how many leave.

Yep. Similar to what happened back the mid-2000s. The economy sucked back then and unemployment was high, so some people got into LE mainly because it seemed like a steady paycheck. Once the economy turned around a few years later and the job market rebounded, there was a rash of officers leaving for other jobs, leading to a big manpower crunch.

Only seven? (I'm not sure who said it, but I heard this: The #metoo movement was killed when it reached Joe Biden. Tara Reade is now an outsider. In the same way, the "Defund the Police movement will die the first time Mr. or Mrs. Woke calls 911 and gets a busy signal...") You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless. NRA Benefactor/Patriot Member

Three of my former coworkers were making some noise about exploring their options on FB.. I reminded them that due to that city offering a 50yoa retirement for all employees, the guys were able to retire “early” if they were over 50, and they didn’t have to wait until 55(the state’s requirements) One of them has already called me to find out more. That was my initial plan (retire at 50) until my stroke. I hope they do it. Leaving policing has made my life soooo much better, no stress, no one trying to kill me, the bosses not trying to fuck you over for actually doing your job, being able to freely express my feelings...the list goes on.
