We have been using the Philips I2C standard since the first products we every build. Every single one of them has source code that uses the "master/slave" nomenclature.

I have to document a file name and line number for every instance. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? For what? You think we're going to change code and re-compile drivers for 10 year old products? And you think our customers want this? You think we're going to re-test 10 year old system?

This shit is out of control. They want it all changed to "primary/subordinate".

I got a big long list of language that can't be used. Blacklist is out, but "black screen" is ok. Who the fuck is making these rules?

LOL: the I2C specifications uses the word "master" 252 times and the word "slave" 202 times.

If one codes in perl ... one could make use of ACME::Bleach which renders ones code into white space (blanks and tabs) which HR probably wouldn't find offensive. (Yes this white space code executes.)

As a plumber of 51 years, nobody is going to get me to change my lingo and the way bills are made out! Male And female fittings have no other choices at the supplier. Either do sillcocks, ballcocks, drain cocks, or nipples. I'm sure there are many more, but I'm tired as we just got back from Benezette, Pa. Having fun with their massive Elk population.

You should generate an estimate of how much time it would take to find all such instances, change them, re-build the code, and test it.

Then... what? You're going to update all the customers that have all that non-social-justice-conforming-code to the new social-justice-conforming-code? You're going to tell your customers you're going to update their currently-working software so as to eliminate "bad words?"

I'm reminded of the time a couple PHBs thought it would be a Good Idea to replace our Unix network servers with MS-Windows servers. I was instructed to find out what that would take in time, materials, and money.

So I did.

That was the last I heard of that idea Wink

I have three brothers with degrees in computer science. They all use Unix, by choice.

Interesting to hear that large segments of the Federal govt have also inserted Critical Race Theory aspects, which is the mechanism utilized in I&D departments.

quote:
Defending American Values, and History
Attacking critical race theory as “ideological poison,” President Trump reminds us that our government is based on individual rights, equality under the law, and merit.

In a speech yesterday at the National Archives, President Trump elevated a formerly obscure academic discipline—critical race theory—into a major theme in his campaign for reelection. In his 17-minute address, the president denounced critical race theory as a “Marxist doctrine holding that America is a wicked and racist nation,” and that, if left unchecked, “will dissolve the bonds that tie us together [and] will destroy our country.”

After months of political instability, which began with the coronavirus lockdowns and accelerated into the George Floyd riots, the president has finally settled on a rationale for his campaign: he has positioned himself as the defender of American history, values, and principles—while the radical Left, he argues, wants to burn them down. He identifies critical race theory, which he described as an “ideological poison,” as the animating philosophy behind the “left-wing mobs [that] have torn down statues of our founders, desecrated our memorials, and carried out a campaign of violence and anarchy.”

This is a shrewd framing. As I’ve previously argued, a straight line connects critical race theory to modern progressivism to the riots in the streets. All are predicated on the idea that America was founded on racism and that all of our institutions—across government, law, culture, and society—are mere camouflage for racial domination and oppression. Joe Biden, while culturally more closely aligned with the old working-class Democratic Party, has acceded to this new worldview. He has absorbed the vocabulary of “systemic racism” and “white supremacy,” aligned himself with the socialist firebrands of “The Squad,” and refused to condemn nationwide street riots for three months.

....

The author gives a 20-min insight on a podcast, and comments on the dynamics that are rapidly evolving (or devolving) within offices spaces and children's schools, as 'critical race theory' is inserted into every aspect of employment and education.

How about "I think BLM and ANTIFAA are commie organizations and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law". Yeah, that'll work.
